  1. If ships could talk--I wonder what the Ruby might have to say about the age and condition of some of her passengers lol!
  2. Thank you, but as usual when one doesn't know all the facts, you are way off base. Son lives halfway across the country (New York) and certainly knows how to entertain himself. He has been to Europe half dozen or so times, and in fact is going to Denmark later this month to perform Hamlet with the Oxford Shakespeare Company. He has been on ocean cruises and does enjoy the "nightlife" there which is why I questioned if he would be bored. We travel a lot (we are not that far in our "twilight years") and he occasionally goes with us so we can spend some time together. Thanks to those answering my question about the ages on board. I'll let him know, if he doesn't decide to go, we will be making other trips he may decide to accompany us on.
  3. What would you say is the average age of river cruisers? Does it vary somewhat by which company you use?(we're early 70's, but 30 year old son is interested in coming along. I'm afraid he will be bored from looking at the brochures).
  4. I have an idea. Let's bring back a steerage class. Same price and amenities (because some of us are elite and own Carnival stock) but you are sent there based on what you wear to formal night as determined by the "upper class" (self-designated) on here.
  5. We just stayed there in February. I believe there was also a Subway and a grocery store in the shopping area across the street. Of course, Hampton always has a good breakfast. The hotel itself was typical Hampton.
  6. After returning from our recent cruise on the Regal, I'm beginning to think there needs to be some limits put on electric scooters. We had a man down the corridor from us who would sail by very rapidly. You really needed to stick your head out and look and listen before stepping out. Another instance occurred in the buffet area, when a woman on a scooter obviously going too fast cut a corner too sharply and knocked over several chairs before running into a table. I realize they are a great convenience for some people, but they are also a hazard to others is not used responsibly.
  7. Sounds like something someone would call in on a local talk radio show called "First World Problems"
  8. I started cruising in the 1970's. As I recall, the first few nights of the cruise, the midnight buffet would be packed. As the cruise went on, fewer and fewer people showed up.
  9. Been on 11 cruises, 5 on Princess, but have never done specialty dining. For our upcoming cruise on the Regal, we have been gifted one. Several questions - are coffee or tea included? Are there set hours like in the DR or can we pick our time? Can we make a reservation on the day when we want it (like after we see what is on the DR menu that night)? Please, no one needs to address tips, that was MORE than adequately covered recently! Thanks!
  10. Many years ago (obviously if you could see me now) when I was young and single, I had a waiter one cruise who always brought me double order on desserts no matter what I ordered. He said I was "too skinny."
  11. Does the wait staff in the specialty restaurants only work there or do they rotate through the MDRs?
  12. TA called late yesterday and said we had been upgraded on our upcoming Regal cruise. We told her we did not want it after checking location and change back to our original cabin. She called back (unfortunately talked to DH) and apparently said something like she didn't think it could be undone, she would send an e-mail. Checked personalizer this morning and we are still shown in new cabin. Can't get ahold of TA over the weekend. Anything I can do in the meantime, know Princess probably won't talk to me.
