Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. To build on this, Ascent has 4 separate Main Dining rooms, each with a slightly different motif… Greek, French, Italian, and cosmopolitan. All of the dining rooms offer the exact same “base” menu, but each dining room adds on a few extra entrees that are unique (and only available) to that particular dining room, and they all change daily. Every morning, we would use the app to review the menus of each dining room (to see the specialty items) and then decide which one we would be dining at that evening. You can either call and make a reservation (for a specific time, table, or server), or just simply show up for the next available table.
  2. We did a 7-day Caribbean on Ascent last December and had 2 chic nights (Celebrity’s toned down version of formal night) and a shimmer night (the shinier the better, lol). I imagine cruise director Luigi is still on board and he plans and participates in a lot of activities for the passengers! I’m sure there might have been a themed party or two we missed out on, but even if you don’t dress up for them, you are still welcomed and will have a great time.
  3. You fly out next Tuesday, we *embark* this Saturday onto Majestic, lol, and for 2 weeks! Although I’m hopeful Princess will continue testing before disembarkation as a gesture of goodwill, I’m thinking the reports of people being tested are because they were “grandfathered” in, meaning their cruise was already underway when this policy change was implemented. Since our cruises haven’t started yet, Princess could use that as the dividing line between being tested onboard or not. in any event, there are a few options for getting a rapid antigen test at YVR for around CAD$79, however, they generally recommend allowing 2-hours before your flight for testing, results, checking in, etc. Our departure flight is at 3:40pm, so I’m making a couple of different no-obligation appointments as our “worst case scenario” option. If you guys have an early flight out, then your options are quite limited, and I wish you luck! The two testing locations that I am considering: https://covid-medical.ca/ https://www.yvr.ca/en/passengers/shop-dine-and-services/285
  4. Ok, another question... has Princess said anything about on-ship Covid testing (complementary or not) for Americans who will be flying home from YVR and need a negative test? An "updated" Princess FAQ states "Voyages ending in Canada: Guests are responsible to arrange their COVID-19 tests and pay directly to the testing facility. " However, there have been reports that Princess is testing on-board the day before disembarkation for some people.
  5. I have a question! Approximately how full, percentage wise, is the ship at on this sailing? We’re on the 14-day Alaska starting Saturday and we’re hoping it’s maybe as “empty” as the Koningsdam was last October!
