  1. It depends on your award or enterprise agreement - it may include an extra day off or it may be added to your annual leave but does include holiday pay rates which on a public holiday are double I think.
  2. Happy Easter to you Les and all on this board, Hope you all have had a visit from the Easter Bunny, and able to enjoy the day with family and friends. We had an early celebration last night with our family for our 50th Wedding Anniversary. So a quiet day today for us.
  3. Just a correction - Tassie, not Tazzie. Glad you enjoyed your holiday in Tasmania.
  4. Good luck Mic, hope all goes well. Pity you will miss your European trip, at least you should be fit and healthy by the time your Cape York trip comes around next year.
  5. In Bali, immigration is conducted onboard your ship before you disembark. Immigration in Bali
  6. Yes, we have a friend who has been in Australia since the '50s and along with her brothers has never bothered to take out Australian citizenship. She is married to an Aussie and her children and grandchildren were all born here. Another friend (son in law's mother) who came here mid '70s decided to become a citizen when our grandsons came along.
  7. It did take off in use during Covid, as it was less contact for staff and they also didn't have to produce as many menus, so more hygienic as far as handling them. I have only ever seen QR codes in cafes and pubs, not in less casual restaurants. As I said, we use both ways. One advantage is that you pay for your own meal/s and don't have to worry about splitting the bill. Many venues use tablets/iPads to take orders too.
  8. Do you mean a snorkelling excursion? It is not possible to do a snorkelling excursion privately at Airlie Beach as these tours do no fit in with the time you are there. They leave to early and arrive back too late.
  9. No, that is not the case. They use QR codes to make it simpler for those who want to eat quickly and don't want changes to their dishes. When eating out with my family, we have used the QR code to order our meal. It is a computer based system so when you click on the QR code, it takes you to the restaurant/venue's ordering page. You click on what you want and pay. Super easy if you don't want changes to your order. But, on the other hand, if you have queries or want changes to the dish you are ordering, order at the counter or through the wait staff. I have never found a place that has a QR code for ordering where you can't order in the normal manner.
  10. This would cut down on the number of suitable ports in Australia, NZ and the south west pacific. There would be more tendering which is tiresome at the best of times. Not everyone likes the bigger ships. Our local cruise industry would likely struggle even more.
  11. What a wonderful gesture Lyle. Fantastic woodwork.
  12. Yes, usually there will be larger taxis or vans available which will fit your luggage and you in.
  13. The Oceania Nautica is quite a small ship and twenty five years old. Probably not the best ship to cross the Tasman on. We have had relatively smooth crossings across the Tasman and had worse seas cruising to and from New Caledonia. Wherever you cruise, there is the chance the weather will affect the conditions you are sailing in.
  14. No, there's no issues as long as you pass all the criteria needed to obtain the visa including the health requirements.
  15. It was originally the Spencer Street DFO which opened around 2006. It really didn't do very well as a DFO and was revamped in 2013 and then again a few years later. I haven't been there for ages but we would occasionally have lunch or dinner there or a coffee on the way to Marvel Stadium for the football.
  16. The outlet centre at Southern Cross (Spencer Outlet Centre) has been there for years Julie.
  17. Usually disembarkation excursion coaches will take all your luggage with you and drop you at the airport after the excursion is finished. The excursions are aimed for those who are taking late flights. You may have the choice of being dropped at the airport or in the central business district of Brisbane. This link takes you to a disembarkation excursion from Princess (not Australia Zoo) and it states you will be dropped at the airport - Brisbane Disembarkation Excursion
  18. I just kept shaking my head as I read through it Linda.
  19. I have just read the "Again - Early morning walking Promenade" thread on HAL. Wow, there are some entitled passengers on there.
  20. If you are applying for an ETA (Electonic Travel Authority) to enter Australia, you will need to use an app to do so, either on a phone or iPad. Australian ETA For the NZeTA, it can be done either through their app or online. NZeTA
  21. The tenders dock at a wharf in the marina up from the mouth of the Waimata River on the opposite side from the town centre. There were shuttles from the wharf to the town.
  22. Lyle, I am so sorry to hear your news. Condolences to you and especially to Lynn. I am glad you both were able to be with her at the end. ❤️
