  1. Thank you. We are hoping so too. Although if I am going to get Covid I'd probably rather have it now too.
  2. He applied for a postal vote last night. Wednesday 6pm is the cut off for postal votes and if you test positive after that you are able vote by a phone call. Voting by Phone if You have Covid
  3. Possibly a good idea if you think you might need it. I would have though people would need confirmation for employers at least. Not long after I posted my comment to you, my husband informed me he had a sore throat and a sniffle so thought he should do a RAT as he had a medical appointment this morning. He was positive and received quite a long text message from Vic Health telling him what he needed to do and with some links and phone numbers for medical advice. I did one then and was negative. Under Victoria's protocols, as a close contact I have to test five times in seven days with a space of at least 24 hours between each test. This morning he received another text message with information about voting as he will still be in isolation on Saturday. We had planned to do an early vote today, which I still did.
  4. Did you not receive a confirmation from QLD Health when you reported your RAT result and when you you finished your isolation/recovered? In Victoria, you receive a confirmation text message and when you are due to finish your isolation, you receive another text message. I would assume you could use the text messages to prove you had tested positive and had recovered.
  5. Swans looking good. Too strong at the moment.
  6. At Station Pier, Melbourne, the ships usually back in, so portside is on the dock side but not very attractive. The starboard side has a great view across to the city and Williamstown. Sailing out if you want to see the coast, you are best to be on portside or go up on deck. The ship arrives so early into Port Phillip Bay, it doesn't really matter what side you are on. Photo is from Connected to Port Phillip website.
  7. It is current at the moment. I have family in the UK too and one has just completed a cruise from Southampton and had to test before boarding. It is up to the cruise company to decide if that is what they want to do for the well being of both passengers and staff. P&O UK require it too - What Do I Need to do Before My Cruise • Obtain evidence of your COVID-19 vaccination status (up-to-date NHS COVID-19 Pass or valid vaccination certificates issued by your local health authority) • Organise and pay for a COVID-19 lateral flow/antigen test for all guests aged five years and above (NHS tests are not accepted). The negative antigen test certificate must be presented at the terminal
  8. As from 6th April 2022, you have to apply for an ETA on the Australian ETA app, not online using a browser as previously.
  9. Akaroa became the closest port to Christchurch after the earthquake and the port of Lyttleton was damaged. Lyttleton has now reopened and will service cruise ships visiting Christchurch so it is likely not many ships will visit Akaroa in the future which from my point of view is a pity as I loved it but I can inderstand why.
  10. Did she revert to English once she knew you weren't Austrian?
  11. The photos are of the Taieri Gorge train and Dunedin railway station where we boarded the train in Dunedin. We did an independent tour.
  12. According to Australian Home Affairs website, from 6th April, you apply on the Australian ETA app available from the Apple Store or Google Play Store and in most cases you will be notified of the result immediately. https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/electronic-travel-authority-601#HowTo You will also need a NZ ETA - https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-zealand-visas/options/visit
  13. The tender time at Airlie Beach is quite long, more than just a few minutes if I remember, depending on where the tender is docking and whether you are on a ship's tender or one of the high speed catamarans that are used as well. There are two marinas that may be used, one each on either side of the town. It is best to do a ship's excursion if doing the reef from Airlie as you will be picked up and returned directly from the ship and don't have to tender. Sorry I don't know how long the tender trip is in Port Douglas.
  14. I agree, sometimes it is more just the nausea for me. I have only ever vomited twice - once on a cruise ship and once on a plane, my first ever flight returning from Tasmania when we hit a storm over Bass Strait. I used Avomine which works really well but now that it is not available in Australia, I use Phenergan, taking it at night. Rarely have nausea from motion sickness now.
  15. We used Viator in New Zealand for a cruise at the end of 2018 with great success and not one problem. The ports we used them for were Dunedin, Tauranga and Auckland. The local companies that Viator used were excellent and the guides were wonderful. I would look for excursions through local companies as well just to compare.
  16. As Julie said in her post, the Taieri Gorge train trip is a great way to see a little of inland NZ with beautiful scenery. We thoroughly enjoyed the trip, there is food and drinks available to purchase onboard and if you do a ship's excursion, lunch is usually included and you board the train from the dock beside the ship. We chose to do a private excursion which meant a coach from the dock to the train station to board the train. It was much cheaper than the ship's excursion and also meant we had time to look at the amazing station.
  17. Happy Mother's Day to you too Marion and all the other mothers on CC.
  18. Happy Birthday for yesterday Mic. Hope you had a great day.
  19. Agree with first part but I can't for your last sentence. Go Bombers! Although I fully expect a Swan's win.
  20. I prefer rosemary with lamb not beef. A little bit of garlic, salt and black pepper with steak is all I need.
  21. Other than what others have said, a relative has just returned to the UK after a cruise to Amsterdam on P&O Ventura. She said that they sailed at half the capacity with around 1500 passengers.
