  1. Back at the Turnberry...I'm looking forward to the experience...and there is a mall nearby that have plenty of dining venues...that I will partake in...and put my investment into the taxi rides to and fro, and enjoy the day and night...at this fine establishment.

Since I really couldn't get on the water and I'm a traveler so being at a hotel that is going to give me a concrete view...as do most hotels I stay in during the year...I decided to go for the view and experience....lazy rivers, water slides, waterfalls and a private beach is where we will end up and I'm good with that.

Thank you all for helping...if the other marriotts on the beach were avail, i'd of been there....

Our nephew got married at Turnberry Isle this past weekend. What a beautiful resort! The room was amazing-comparable to the Bellagio in Las Vegas, the pools were gorgeous, the grounds were lush and tropical, the food was incredibly expensive.

We flew into/out of MIA while our kids flew into/out of FLL. We rented a car for $39 from Fox, but parking at Turnberry was $32 per day. We drove past Port Everglades a number of times thanks to our FLL runs. The drive was 20-25 minutes each way.

Hope some of this info is useful.

  2. We're trying to arrange for transportation the morning we arrive back into POM after our Breeze cruise next month. I recall last year on the Breeze that they wanted us out of our cabins by a certain time, so we had to wait around for awhile on the ship before our pre-arranged transportation arrived.

Any recent Breeze cruisers remember what time you had to be out of your cabin by?

We're planning on doing self-assist, so timing of getting off the ship isn't a big concern. We have a later flight out of FLL, so we're not in a big hurry to get off the ship. :)

The past few cruises we were asked to vacate the cabins by 8:30 AM.

So if you are doing self-assist, and leave the ship whenever you want to, where do you wait with all your luggage?

We waited either in the Lido buffet area or by one of the pools, catching those last few rays of sunshine. We had our luggage with us. Then we disembarked when we wanted. (Had to, technically, because we never really WANTED to. ;))

  3. Quick question - we did self assist out of Norfolk and it was a nightmare with their escalator in POM do you go straight to customs or do you have stairs or escaltors to worry about? We think we might have an extra suitcase which is always a pain to worry about holding onto a rail with 2 suitcases

At the Port of Miami there was both an escalator and an elevator. Back in October, there was a port employee directing people with luggage to the elevator and people with only carry-ons to the escalator.

  4. We are considering doing self disembark because we have a 12:10 flight out of Ft. Lauderdale. I've never done this before. How difficult is it? Any tips? We will each have one rolling suitcase.

It looks like you are sailing Breeze out of Miami, right? We did the same back in October-we flew into and out of FLL for Breeze.

We had reserved transportation with SAS (ridesas.com) before the cruise for both directions. $15 pp. We've used them several times and have always had fantastic, quick service. We also used self-assist so we did not leave our bags outside at night. We had a noon flight.

On debarkation day, we got ready and had breakfast in the Lido. At 8:30 we went back to our cabin to retrieve our luggage since everyone was asked to vacate cabins by that time. We called SAS and told them we were ready to go. We were picked up five minutes later and were headed to MIA. Took about half an hour to get to MIA. We were sitting at the gate by 9:30.

    Easy Peasy.

  5. My family and I are taking a 8 day eastern cruise on the Breeze. If I book my cabin in the "odd number " will that be the beside to view the ports? Can't remember if the odd side is port or starboard side.

    Thanks

We booked starboard (odd numbered) on Breeze because the Lanai below on that side was non-smoking. (No need to debate this.)

We backed into two of our ports and nosed into the other two.

  6. I really enjoyed the cabin and location of the cabin on my last cruise. I was wondering has anyone ever booked the same cabin on a future cruise? Did it take away some of the excitement knowing what you would expect? Did you have the same cabin steward?

Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app

Does it count if we booked the same cabin on three sister ships?

We were in 7220 on Miracle and Pride and will be in 7220 on Legend. We love the location of that stateroom.

Now to somehow afford 7220 on Spirit...:D

  7. I would like to watch the arrival from my balcony to Progresso and Cancun if possible, but how do I know what time? Usually when I wake up, we are already there..never had a balcony so I won't have to get dressed and can just relax in my robe this time.

Check your Fun Times the night before. Arrival time will be listed. Just plan for an earlier time every now and then.

Standing on my balcony in my jammies-one of my favorite things to do!

  8. Hello. Just wanted some feedback from other cruisers who have traveled with small children on Carnival. We want to go on Carnival Liberty Western Caribbean over my husband's spring break. However we are bringing our 18 month son along. Is this a horrible idea? I know he is too young for kids club so I'm not sure how many activities will be available. I also am a strong RCCL fan but there weren't any interesting/affordable cruises during this week. Ive never been on Carnival before. Any feedback would be great! Or tips on fun baby friendly excursions in Belize, Cayman Islands, and Cozumel. Thanks!!

When we had kids, almost 26 years ago, my husband and I started taking "family vacations." I understand you wanting to bring your baby with you. Though we couldn't afford to cruise until the boys were 14 and 11.5, we did take them on lots of land vacations.

One thing to know is that babies and children who are not potty trained are not allowed in the pools, even with swim diapers on. I've read where parents bring small blow-up pools, find secluded areas on an exterior deck, and let their babies have fun splashing in the water. (They filled the pool with water from the showers, which is fresh rather than the salt water in the pools.) I've also read that these parents use the blow-up pools to bather their babies in the shower in the cabins.

    Have fun planning your trip.

  9. im trying to pick a cruise to sail on and i was looking for feedback about carnival ships. i just sailed on sunshine and was so disappointed. i wrote carnival a 10 page letter and sent pictures. im not one to complain about anything... im very leary about sailing carnival again. im looking for opinions on other carnival ships

Can you specify what disappointed you? Maybe we can help with avoiding those things on another ship.

  10. If we have a joint stock account can either of us receive the stock holder's benefits? Because if DH puts it in just his name and I want to take a girl's cruise I couldn't get the perks but if we put it in both names then will CCL honor that?

    Yes.

Our Carnival stocks are owned jointly. When I took my mom on two cruises, I got the OBC for each one. Even if you share a cabin with your girlfriends, you alone will get the OBC.

    Enjoy.

  11. Hi All -

Considering taking an 8 day southern Caribbean cruise and looking at the Liberty(which I've sailed three times and love) or the Breeze.

Is the Breeze worth the extra $$?

    Thanks! :)

Breeze is definitely worth the extra money!

I loved the ship. The layout was nice, the whole aft deck was wide open and great for sunbathing while watching the wake. The interior colors were so soothing yet tropical. She never felt crowded to me.

I may be in the minority, but Liberty is my least favorite ship of all (Yes, we have sailed her twice, much to my chagrin. But never again.) because her features are opposite of those of Breeze.

  12. I have a question. Our kids will be in their own room as well, directly across the hall, (Ages almost 10 and 14) . I thought each room would have to have an adult, so I listed it this way on the cards. Will I be able to get cards for my husband and myself that open both doors? I know at some point they will forget their key, on a sea day, and I will be running around to get in. Also, Could we list them alone in their room, and myself and my husband in the other?

    TIA!

    Shan

As long as the kids are directly across the hall or right next door, they can be booked in their cabin alone. We did that from the time our boys were 14 and 11, up until they were 24 and 21. :D

  13. I know this has been answered, but I can't find it. I thought I knew the answer, now I'm not sure. We were on the Sunshine last month and our cabins were booked with one parent and one child in each room. We bought FTTF for each cabin so that we could all board at the same time.

Today I booked the Dream and finally got someone on the phone who booked the kids in their own room and my hubby and I in ours, so no hassle switching rooms onboard. There were 3 FTTF tickets left and I grabbed them up for all of our rooms (my dads also). Here's my question, did I really need one for the kids' cabin? My hubby and I will have it on our cards, so I would assume the kids could get onboard with us. The only problem I see, would be having to get in a separate line at check-in. It's not a huge deal but $50 is $50.

    How old are your kids?

If they are minors, then they embark with you. They do not need FTTF.

  14. We can fly a lot cheaper from Dallas to FLL than Mia (5/p). Flying into FLL is not a problem on 6/5, but the best I can do flying home (6/15) is 6:25pm. Have never taken shuttle from port to FLL airport (not sure who to use) and don't know what to do for all that time. Also, not sure what time to have shuttle pick us up at terminal. Little scare of 11am in case something happens getting off, but don't really want to sit around port for what could be hours if I book 12pm. Help:eek:

We have flown into/out of FLL and sailed out of Miami many times. We have always used SAS. It cost $15 per person. They have always been very reliable and professional. We usually chose flights before noon, disembarked around 9:00 a.m. using self assist, and always made it to FLL with plenty of time.

An option for a late flight is booking a Carnival excursion that goes to the Everglades. Passengers and their luggage board a bus which takes them to the Everglades for a few hours. They are then taken to the airport.

As for FLL, we learned the one time that we booked a flight after noon that we could not check in/hand over our luggage more than three hours before our flight. So we sat around with our bags and people watched. Got really old after a while.

Hope some of this info is helpful.

  15. Carnival has not offered FCC's for a while. In fact, the ones previously issued will expire in February of this year. When you book on board, you get OBC up to $150 per stateroom depending on how many days your sailing is. You can book cruises as far out as Carnival has them released. You will also get 2 vouchers giving friends and family 60 days to book the same cruise as you.

    Not mine. :D

We live in NH, where is it by law that certificates, gift cards, etc. cannot expire nor lose value. It even states on the back on my last :( FCC that it does not expire for purchasers who reside in CA or NH. Wish I had known they were being discontinued-I'd have purchased a dozen.

  16. When your going through security at the port, what happens if your carry on bag is a little too big? I have a 3 day bag I use as a carry on, but fully packed it might just be a little big too fit.

If you squish it and squash it and it still does not fit, I imagine it will have to be checked.

  17. This will be our 4th cruise 2 on RCCL and our 2nd on CCL. We have never used our in room safe. How safe are your valuables or cash if you chose to use the safe?

We have always stored valuables, like jewelry, cash, passports, credit cards, etc. in our cabin safes. In 12 Carnival and three Royal Caribbean cruises, we've never had any issue with our safes nor our items stored in said safes. Every time we locked our safes, we pulled on the door to make sure it was indeed secure.

  18. Do you have a favorite time of year to sail?

Being from NY, we have always liked late fall and early spring, to extend the nicer seasons, or shorten the harsher ones, I guess. Last year we tried a February "season", and did a cruise, a week off, then another cruise. Really made winter short for us! This year we are trying January. What is your favorite time to cruise?

Not summer. We don't see a reason to leave the hot weather to go to hotter weather. :D

Living in New England, our winters are loooong. While February is a nice time to escape, cruises seem more expensive. The last couple of years we cruised in April and again in October.

I personally LOVE cruising in October because the Caribbean ocean temps are so beautifully warm. But then we have the whole winter ahead of us.

We need to win a big lottery so we could live on a ship all winter and be home all summer.

  19. There is unfortunately no longer any way to reach someone on board - which I think is a little insane. I would have your friends call home at a designated time once or twice a day, keeping it short and sweet. It would be cheaper than roaming charges. It's $1.99/minute to call from the ship.

Where on Earth did you hear that?

In November, my partner and I are taking our best friends on their first cruise.

They have a severely disabled 12 year old daughter at home.

Grandma will be watching her, but my friend is very iffy about leaving her for a week.

I know she can call to check from her phone, but roaming charges etc. are insane.

We also know she can buy the internet package and check in through email.

    My question is though..

If something were to happen on land (God forbid), is there a way for Grandma to contact us?

She can email but we'd have to check our email every 30 minutes.

Is it possible to call INTO the ship?

Sorry if my question seems scattered, LOL..

    I wasn't sure exactly what/how to ask.

    Thanks in advance. :)

  20. All repositioning cruises are inexpensive, since you must get transportation going to one port and then leaving another.

it's a nice ship, been on it four times.

Sadly, the first leg of Legend's repo cruise is NOT inexpensive at all. We did get one nice price drop at the beginning, but since then the price has gone up and up. Wonder what's with that.

  21. I see on the list of things on ship that the Pride has 3 pools and 1 kiddie pool. Is this a pool kids can splash around in and isn't so deep?

When I called and asked to make sure they have this the guy told me yes. I asked him if kids in diapers can go in and he said yes as long as it's swim diapers. I thought I'd push him in a little further and ask if kids can go in the big pools in diapers, then he double checked the rules and said no, not even in the kiddie pool with swim diapers. I guess I don't really get the purpose of a kiddie pool if little kids can't go in. How strict are they with swim diapers in the kiddie pool? We have a 4 year old too so she'll enjoy being about to jump around in the water, I was just hoping my 2 year old could do the same. It seems like most young kids, diapered or not, will be peeing in the pool.

It's not the urine in the pool that is much of a health concern, it's the solid matter. That can easily leak out of any diaper, even swim diapers.

I found this on the Carnival website:

"Children who are not toilet trained (and those in diapers or swim diapers) are not allowed in any of the water facilities onboard, as per United States Public Health Services. Toilet trained children should be taken on frequent bathroom breaks. Note: This includes the whirlpools."

It appears that your two-year old will not be allowed in the kiddie pool until he/she is potty trained.
