  1. I am American. What is a kettle? 🤤 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Russell-Hobbs-21600-10-Illuminating-Kettle/dp/B071X4RKZJ/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?adgrpid=59046417355&hvadid=289257092595&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=1007383&hvnetw=g&hvpos=1t1&hvqmt=e&hvrand=9316674127684348096&hvtargid=aud-613527132211%3Akwd-18543440&keywords=kettle&qid=1555086545&s=gateway&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1 What do you call them?
  2. I just got my information pack from C&MV and in the essential information part it states that we require a Medical Declaration to confirm that all guests are "fit to travel". What next?
  3. You could get the train to Inverkeithing then a taxi to the cruise terminal or a bus to Ferrytoll park and ride and a taxi from there. If you have a bus pass all it will cost you is the taxi fare. You could contact Ferrytoll and ask them about taxis. Fred. Olsen used to run a shuttle from Inverkeithing station, you could also contact them about that. I don't know how much a taxi would cost as I usually get someone to drive me to the cruise terminal as it is only about 3/4 of an hour from my home.
  4. Don't get an outside cabin at the front of the ship. We were in 5002 and when the ship was leaving or docking there was a lot of noise, either from the anchor or motors. We got wakened a couple of times at five in the morning when the ship was docking.
  5. My wife has to have the answer to this question. Is there bingo on Magellan?
  6. Age of passengers a bit younger, too My wife and I are in our early 70's I took the plunge and booked, leaving from Dundee, preferable to Rosyth as I can take the bus, free with my bus pass, almost to the cruise dock. There are more ports of call with CMV and it was actually £1100 cheaper than Fred's Icelandic cruise at the end of June. I never bothered with the all-inclusive option, I don't think we'll drink £46 of alcohol a day.
  7. I'm thinking of going on a cruise from Dundee to Iceland on Magellan. I usually cruise with Fred. Olsen but their 11 night cruise from Rosyth would cost me £3600 or more whereas 13 nights on Magellan would be £1000 less. What differences would I find?
  8. What I don't get is the cheapest price for the Icelandic cruise in June/July 2019 is £1799 pp. I've never spent more than £1199 pp for 11 nights and that was the dearest I've spent in the 10 years I've been cruising with Fred. Hope the price comes down nearer the time. I cruise mostly with Fred because I live near to Rosyth.
  9. so I do not understand why people are paying for Fred's water, even at half price, Simple laziness, Can't be bothered carrying bottles of water on board to save pennies.
  10. You don't need bottled water. The tap water is safe to drink. But doesn't taste very good, to me at least. Same with the water you get when dining, I prefer the wine. You get a 1.5 litre bottle of water in your cabin and that costs £1.50 if you drink it or 75p if AI. My wife takes a 500ml bottle and fills it up from the 1.5l bottle as required. All bags are x-rayed when returning to the ship after being ashore.
  11. I'm going on Balmoral on the 19th Oct. Is it still one card one drink? I was on Balmoral in May I eventually managed to get my hauf and hauf after a couple of days but by that time the staff were used to me asking for it and I had already talked to the bar manager.
  12. I was on holiday in Spain and booked a boat trip and barbecue. The pick-up point was at the hotel beach we were staying at. They took us on a 2 hour bus trip, picking up others on the way, then onto a boat which sailed back to the beach we had just left. Since we were all inclusive at the hotel I nipped into the hotel bar and get decent drinks rather than drink the free sangria on the boat. At least it was a nice boat trip and I did go back on the boat and endured the 2 hour bus trip back to my hotel.
  13. The only thing worth buying is tobacco and cigarettes and I don't smoke.
