Commercials have been running a lot on Seattle TV stations. Big market in Northwest for Alaska cruises.
-
Story on local news this morning said that most cruise lines were having to reduce capacity due to difficulty staffing the ships

They are that slammed. They lost people and I'm sure like every company are struggling to fill positions.
They are likely responding to people based on date of travel. Since itineraries are constantly is a state of change right now they definitely have their hands full. One ship with 1500-2000 passengers has a major itinerary change means that many (if not most) of those people will be calling HAL with questions.

I was on Noordam III back in the 80's in Mexico. As I recall the entire casino staff was escorted off by authorities. We heard had something to do with theft or embezzlement. Never did hear exactly what had happened.
May be off on some details but was in my 20's then and as long as we had Bartenders I was good!

Vista class has curtain between bed and couch in V cabins. None on Signature class

I was corrected by a collector- it is a lithograph, not a print.

Almost as easy as a hotel. Lines returning to ship can get long at times as there is x-ray and metal detector at the ship

We have been on R/T Seattle cruises that were unable to dock in Victoria due to weather. Officials came out to the ship and signed off paperwork.
We were told that when safety was in question this was allowed. Wondering if this could be a temporary SOP as safety and health is definitely risked now.

I would thing that Seabourn would be more likely with the small ships

We have sailed in deck 5 aft suites on Oosterdam several times with no vibration.

I don't know if that will be still available..
I fully agree. Another attempt from the previous administration to let people buy suite and/or 4-5 star benefits.
At some point HAL needs to look at their competition (Celebrity, etc) and decide if they want to be in the suite/deluxe market.

Everyone is answering except Copper 10/8. He is either away or does not have the answer to the question.
He may be working. Still security needs on the ships

I'm wondering if the 2 ships sold but not delivered to CMV yet were being taken back by CCL. If so, they could be candidates.
Pacific Aria is sitting with other CCL ships now
-
Interesting that Pacific Aria (former Ryndam) is there with the CCL ships. Maybe she wants to come home after almost being a CMV ship 🙂

Appears Oosterdam is heading through the Canal. Wondering what her destination is as no HAL ships moored in Caribbean.

Definitely sad to see Pacific Aria going there.

Very sad the Pacific Princess is as loved by Princess people as Prinsendam was to HAL passengers

Saw a picture of Aegean Majesty- looked like name was quickly stensiled over Veendam. Wondering if the name is temporary
Maasdam moved to Piraeus and supposedly is being handed over to new owners (still unknown).
Makes me wonder if venture capital bought the ships on spec.
Could it be that the Van der Vorm family bought them to start a new line? The do still own the HAL name on their businesses. They made billions selling their eyewear company to Luxoticca. 🙂

Plus Veendam, although still not official, and her (Veendam's) recent renaming of 'Aegean Majesty' makes it all 'very interesting' as Sergeant Hans Schultz liked to utter

I'm wondering if a Venture Capital group bought the ships and is marketing them for long term lease.
If so maybe CCL should have looked in the same direction as they did with Thompson with former Nieuw Amsterdam and Noordam.

Reported in Wikipedia - Her flag was changed from Netherlands to Bermuda.
Adds to the mystery and confusion. Why Bermuda?

The buyer of both ships was originally reported in press to be Blue Seas Cruises but said the operator was unnamed. Their website says they will have 3 ships and offer zodiaks.

For Pinncle you should be met in the terminal and walked on board and to your Suite at the start of boarding.
