The only time we've ever left our kids home during a vacation was last year, our first cruise for our 20th anniversary. I wouldnt ever have thought of leaving them when they were younger. When you become a parent you make a long committment which may mean cramping your style a bit. Our kids are now mid-late teens and we will be bringing them on their first cruise this April with us because we had so much fun on ours last year. Our 18 month old grandson will be along as well.
I have no problem with kids at all. That being said, I expect the parents to be parents be have control of their kids as well. Again, that committment when you became a parent. On our last cruise, there were some young kids playing in the pool with goggles every time we went to the pool. Running, jumping in, splashing older people, kicking you as they swam by, trying to swim under water around the crowded pool. No parents in sight. That I dont agree with. Parents should have been right there supervising and when they saw what they were doing to others, put an end to it. Dont get me wrong, when they werent affecting anyone else, splash and kick away, but sometimes you need to be a bit reserved.
My kids have always known how to act properly in public (and otherwise) and I have received compliments about their behavior from total strangers (very proud parent when that happens)

Thanks for the advice everyone. Based on your replies it sounds like I was on the right track.
HollandAvery, no problem. You are asking for the same reason I am. I have two excursions and an all inclusive day on our next cruise that Im budgeting cash for and wanted to have everything set.
Our last cruise I just kind of hung back and watched what others were giving and did the same. Yeah yeah, so we dont get out much!! haha.

So we dont go places very often where we have to use a taxi etc, just want to make sure we arent looking cheap.
How much to you usually tip your taxi/shuttle operators and tour guides? Assuming you are treated right and have a good tour/trip etc.

Why are some people ragging on the OP for trying to do a good deed. I guess many would have just written off the owners of the pic and tossed it? I think its great that they are trying to reunite it with the owner!
Was just barely reading a news article about a diver finding a camera lost back in 2012 and reuniting its sd card with the owner so they would have their pics!
I wish the OP luck in finding the owners of that pic. Im sure they would/will be very grateful to get it back and appreciate your efforts!

Loving the review so far. We are taking my teens on their first cruise in April aboard the Breeze. My wife and my first time with CCL, our second cruise ever.
-
Any OBC would be nice to have. It was $30 total for the room. I also noted $50 change in my kids room across the hall. Can I do a request form more than once if it continues to change?
-
Looks like its $30 less than what I paid for the base cruise fare. When is it worth it to make a "claim"?
-
OK I just checked the fare viewer. It only let you choose "balcony" not 8C balcony etc. I am assuming the price given is base fare for the room before any taxes, charges etc are added? I see it looks a bit less than what I paid but as I said, I cant specify the exact room category??
scratch that.....just saw I didnt go far enough!!
-
I see so many people finding price drops and getting OBC etc. Is there an easy way to do this? We are on the Breeze April 19th and would like to monitor this.
-
Just so I have it straight in my mind, if I embark on Sunday, I would have to order by Monday (2nd day) to get Cheers. Or is Embarkation day not counted as a day since it doesnt sail until later afternoon?

Loved the detailed planning. I am the same way, I want everything and every detail all set well in advance. My wife and I took our first ever cruise last May and this April will be taking our 3 kids and grandson on their first ever cruise. It will be on the Breeze as well. We are all extremely excited!

shootr,
Those last two pics are about as perfect as can be. I want my pics to look as the actual scene did when I was standing there and I think those two do this perfectly. Its like looking out a window at that scene.
Very nice.

I guess I'll jump in here. I too am very scared about the safety of my family when we fly and cruise in April due to the lack of precautions being taken to protect us, namely, no plane that has touched down in Africa should be allowed here and no person that has set foot in that area should be allowed on US soil.
That being said, everyone from the government spokespeople to people on here are saying the risk is very very low unless you touch fluids, its not spread by air etc etc. OK, answer this, an infected person in their 21 day time slot, not showing any symptoms (or maybe just mild ones) is on a plane, in a store, on a ship etc may not be spreading it by breathing on anyone, but what about the person with less than proper hygene goes to the bathroom and doesnt wash their hands or sneezes in their hands or whatever and then touches 10 different door knobs, shopping carts, whatever.....is this not spreading bodily fluids??? And be honest with yourselves, you KNOW there are more people out there that do this than we care to admit........
Just my .02

Im with the others, I would LOVE this to happen on our cruise. I cant get enough watching fighter aircraft. Sailing by a carrier would be a huge bonus!!

We are total cruise newbies so cant comment why we come BACK to Carnival but can tell you why we chose it this time! We had our first cruise ever back in April/May. That one was just the two of us and we used NCL because a friend recommended it to us and it had the itinerary we wanted at a price that seemed good to us. This year (2015) we decided the kids would LOVE a cruise so we decided to include them. I checked NCL and Carnival and the identical itinerary with NCL was ALOT higher in price so we chose Carnival (which by the way another friend uses all the time and recommended).
I am looking for price vs itinerary and the fact that we are very laid back people and look for anything that is more casual. I dont want to HAVE to dress up unless I WANT to dress up for dinner etc.

Loved the review. Have to admit it makes our time waiting for our turn on the Breeze that much harder! We are under 200 days!
Did just find out that due to a concert on our cruise, we will be in Cozumel until 1 AM! Not sure what I will do with that extra time in port.....Senor Frogs anyone?
-
First, Congratulations on your retirement!
Second, loving the review. Great writing style keeps it interesting! Id love to do an Alaskan cruise at some point. Just hard thinking of a cruise and having to wear jackets etc!!
-
Read your review! Great job. Im glad to hear you loved your cabin. We are sailing the Breeze in April and have an 8c balcony as well, 8237 I think, which should be forward of yours meaning that smell you wrote about shouldnt be an issue???
This will be our second cruise (first for the teens) and first for all aboard CCL. Looking forward to experiencing the Breeze first hand!
-
Great start on this review! I will be following this one! We are on the Breeze in April. Second cruise for us and first for our kids. Two of your ports are the same as ours. We are doing Jamaica instead of Key West.
Cant wait to read/see more!

Great pics Zackidawg. Pirate. Amazing shot given how dark it is on that ride! You know, as many times as Ive been to Disney as a kid and adult, I dont ever remember seeing that "view" of the castle!!
-
Ah Jeez, yes.....got it now! Thanks!

Being from VT we are used to a white Christmas. Years back we had to attend a wedding in Miami the week before Christmas so we planned a Disney vacation at the same time. It was awful strange being in 80* weather, shorts and Tshirts and hearing Christmas music!
That being said, I think Ive got my wife off of the snow for Christmas kick and may be able to talk her into a Christmastime cruise in the near future! I think it would be great to see the ship all decked out and still be able to sit by the pool in the warm sun!!
-
This is great! I guess I picked THE right location to get a picture on this one!!
This shot brings back great memories of both the ship and the location :DNov 2007
