  1. I don't know, but I suspect they'll give it to you as Refundable OBC. If that's the case, you'll probably never see the amount as it will be used to offset the cost of the Princess Plus package purchase.
  2. OK, I took your suggestion at face value to compare a Princess Deluxe Balcony to HAL regular balcony. The Princess (with Princess Plus) is currently going for 9,280 CAD. A few hundred dollars morenthan what I'm paying for a regular bacony but still substantially less than what HAL wants for a very similar itinerary. I'm taking my first HAL cruise next February (Koningsdam) and shoule be able to judge for myself whether the additional cost of HAL is 'worth it' to me.
  3. I've never cruised on a mega-ship so don't have first-hand experience/knowledge. I'd suggest that some cruisers have the sense that some of those very large ships don't provide all that much room is because they've experienced waits and crowding at some locations and choke points and interpreted these as lack of space when it's more a matter of relatively short time crowd flow.
  4. In fact, I think you have to cancel pre-purchased gratuities (and wifi and beverage package if they've been pre-purchased) before the Princess website will permit the purchase of Princess Plus or Premium.
  5. A major problem with the cruisefever.net description of how tonnage is measured (amount of water displaced by ship) is that this provides for the displacement tonnage of the ship.... what the ship weighs. Gross tonnage is a measure of internal volume of the ship and is measured according to agreed standards...it has absolutely nothing to do with the displacement. For example, we could make a simple 'ship shape' out of waxed paper and float it in a tub of water; it may displace a few grams of water. Make the same shape out of thin steel and float it.... the amount of water displaced will be significantly more but the actual internal volume of each 'ship' is the same. I do agree that gross tonnage/number of passengers is about the best measure available for representing 'roominess'.
  6. So, HAL recently posted a number of itineraries for 2026 and I thought I'd look into a 14 day cruise leaving UK or Netherlands for Norway and and a summer solstice crossing of the Arctic Circle. A couple of months ago I booked a Sky Pricess cruise with verandah and Princess Plus package for a grand total of just over 8,000 CAD (currently running at 8,800 CAD). A comparable HAL cruise and cabin and HIA package comes in at 12,400 CAD. Any comments and/or suggestions why the rather substantial difference? Certainly, the HIA provides some excursion and dining credits but not all that much.
  7. You cannot do that; the package cannot be changed a la carte.
  8. Why not? If you purchase the Plus package, gratuities are part of the package.
  9. No, but I agree with zqvol's suggestion that you switch cruise lines.
  10. Just ask around.... apparently the odds of running across somebody with a package are very much in your favour.
  11. That's not my problem and the issue seems to be widespread.... even Dare doesn't have that nany cookies. Edit... I am now on.
  12. In Canada I'm getting - Cuurently Experiencing Technical Difficulties, Try Again Later.
  13. Well sure, the specific issue is long over but the macro issue of flying in day of or early still needs some more chewing over. Sort of like whether a cruiser ought to tip on a particular cruise and tipping in general. Always new and interesting viewpoints. Me, I'd like to revisit the whole removal,of barrel chairs thing.
  14. That works too but doesn't provide nearly the self-satisfaction you get from a successful, and easy, DIY project.
  15. And I wouldn't consider (re) planning my vacation around it; I can always find something offensive in any country if I look for it.
  16. Sort of an apology. We're sorry if anybody took offense to what we presented; not quite the same as being sorry for actually presenting it.
  17. KLM flight: CDG to SOU via AMS. Easyjet: CDG to LGW direct Vueling: ORY to LGW direct.
  18. There's something new to me.
  19. Amber Cove is in Dominican Republic. Some free wifi available ouside some stores... it can be a bit spotty.
  20. For sure. I guess you have to decide whether you want the sun in the morning or afternoon.
  21. Going from Europe to BA? Take the port side to maximize sun; starboard if you prefer shade; don't worry about views of the coast line as there won't be many of those available.
