Only problem with river cruises in the summer is if water levels are down, and they frequently are, then your river cruise turns into a bus cruise.

Customary on Regent is no tipping. There is no gratuity "pool" on Regent. Obviously, you are free to tip as you choose, but should be done with discretion. There is something known as the crew welfare fund that I understand is used for crew parties and excursions. You can donate to the crew fund at the reception desk.

I'd prefer the staff bring me a drink rather than be the chair police.

You know what they say about people who assume. Regent ships are almost always full, the exception being post pandemic when ships were not at full capacity on purpose.

Avoid Air France and Cdg at all costs. AF “misplaced” one of my bags at CDG coming home from a November cruise. It received the bag 62 days later. Absolutely horrible. There is a Facebook page entitled Air France Victims where you can read all about Air France and luggage.

Depends on what your schedule is for the day of the speciality restaurants. If you have an afternoon excursion that returns late, then early reservations won’t be good.

Except that it is all but impossible to have a conversation in the lounge outside Compass Rose due the the volume of the music.

Is it a case of having both booking numbers for the reservation and then one couple booking for both? Yes.

I would think a front-facing balcony would be all but unusable when the ship is underway due to wind.

At least you guys did get your bags. I still have a bag sitting in CDG from a November cruise. AirTag shows exactly where it is, but neither Delta nor Air France seems to give a crap. At least it happened after the cruise and not before.

Wishing your luggage best of luck. I am still waiting for one of three suitcases after a month following early November Mediterranean Cruise. Based on AirTag, it is sitting in Paris CDG following a not-so-great handoff between Air France and Delta. The only plus is the issue happened post cruise and not pre. Air France and CDG a deadly combination. Never again.

Consider yourself fortunate.

I would be very surprised if you were not required to fly thru a gateway airport in order to take advantage of their included air. After all, Regent’s contracted airline seats are by airline, flight and city. At least that is what I have experienced. Perhaps with international flights departing and arriving at a non-gateway airport, your experience may be different. Very interested in hearing how it goes.
