  1. I booked Hilton La Romana's day pass by messaging them via their Facebook page, but there may be other ways. https://www.facebook.com/HiltonLaRomana/ Have fun! I wish all cruises stopped in La Romana because I would go to Hilton La Romana every time,
  2. Grand Turk is nice for many reasons. If you want to save some money, the beach is right off the ship. You can buy drinks and food around the terminal and in Margaritaville, but we never spend any money in Grand Turk. If you like to snorkel, the snorkeling is pretty good for right off the beach, but head out to the buoys, which is where the drop off is and you will find more fish. Below are some videos from different places in the Grand Turk cruise terminal: Grand Turk Cruise Terminal Highlights https://youtu.be/P6sWnyUI6uw Grand Turk Margaritaville only https://youtu.be/XxJBcnxP0eI Grand Turk - Snorkeling with a Barracuda https://youtu.be/siGqNnjrDd0 Grand Turk - Snorkeling with parrot fish https://youtu.be/9y0QOaMk5Sw Grand Turk - Flounder Fish https://youtu.be/hnWr1BVtc0U
  3. I recommend Hilton La Romana. Here is a link to a YouTube video. The video description has a lot of info in it, including day pass cost and taxi at the time we were there. https://youtu.be/lrDOjNC2eQY I've been there twice, once in Sept 2013 when it was under Dreams management and again in October 2019, which is now under Hilton management, and it is amazing...if you like the beach, pools, all-inclusive resort, and relaxing. I can't speak for how busy it will be when you go, but both times we went there were not many people around. But, I know people that went in March 2014 (spring break time) and it was very busy. Also, if you like snorkeling, I can't say the snorkeling is the best...not many colorful fish...however, there are a lot of starfish. I've seen them both times I've been there.
  4. Its not near the port, but I HIGHLY recommend Hilton La Romana. Here is a link to a YouTube video. 5. Below is a link to a video of Hilton La Romana All-Inclusive Resort. You can buy a day pass for $65. Taxi was $10-$15 per person round trip and ride was about 25-30 minutes. (Double check prices for confirmation). For further details about video, resort, etc., there is a lengthy description on the YouTube video. https://youtu.be/lrDOjNC2eQY Subscribe to KD Travel Adventures for more fun and vacation ideas and help.
  6. Below is a picture of Bar Harbor and where Royal Caribbean anchored. The circle in the center is where they tendered us to shore. At the right is an arrow that shows where Holland had a ship anchored. I can't remember how long it took to get to shore, but guessing 10-20 minutes. You didn't mention if it was a cruise ship excursion or one you booked on your own, but if it's an excursion through the ship, which ours was, they told us what time to be on shore and we had plenty of time to get there. If its an excursion on your own, I would assume that the tour company knows what time the ship arrives and what time you will get to shore. Just give yourself plenty of time. We walked around Bar Harbor before our excursion. Its a beautiful and cute little town. Not sure if your excursion goes to Cadillac Mountain, but I do highly recommend it. The view is breathtaking. Here is a video...https://youtu.be/TD5MCf10Lt0 Enjoy your trip!
  7. I can't speak for the ATV or Jeep tours, but I highly recommend Daniel Johnson's Monkey and Sloth Hangout if you like animals. Here is a link to a video: https://youtu.be/VaKMLYNNaJI They pick you up a short walking distance from the cruise terminal and there are several excursion options. We chose the island tour, hanging out with the monkey's, sloths, etc., and then snorkeling. The animals were all fun and the snorkeling was amazing. They took us to two locations; the first was shallow and great for beginners and more advanced snorkelers, and then they took us to the reef, part of the second largest in the world behind Great Barrier Reef. I will probably do the same excursion next time. If you decide to do this, I would book directly through them via Facebook and they will give you all of the details.
  8. I can't speak for the full itineraries, but I like Cozumel and Grand Turk, although quite popular ports of call. If you are looking for a day pass at a mostly adult-oriented beach club, Nachi Cocom in Cozumel is great. It was $65 pp when we went. The food and drinks were included and it was a very relaxing day. I did snorkel here, but there were not a lot of fish, although I was pleased with what I saw right off the beach. Here is a video: Cozumel - Nachi Cocom Beach Club https://youtu.be/HWVhLuEm46o Grand Turk is nice for many reasons. If you want to save some money, the beach is right off the ship. 9. You can't go wrong with any of them. Bermuda is intriguing, but overall number two has the most interesting stops in my opinion. Below are some videos from your possible destinations that may help you decide. A lot of it will depend on what you plan to do in each port. 10. Carnival has fun water slides. Below are videos of five water slides on Horizon, Breeze and Splendor as you enjoy the ride down... 11. Here is a great video of a packing / to do list before leaving on a cruise. https://youtu.be/bU-1PpttmYY
  12. We were on Carnival (but I don't think the cruise line matters) and "Daniel Johnson's Monkey and Sloth Hangout" picked us up just outside of the port area. The first picture in the video shows you where you meet all of the locals picking up cruisers for excursions that were not bought through the ship. https://youtu.be/VaKMLYNNaJI When we booked directly through Daniel Johnson's Monkey and Sloth Hangout via Facebook, I'm sure I told him the date we would be there and the cruise ship, just so they knew where to pick us up, but again, I really don't think the cruise line itself matters. They just need to know the date you will be there and where the ship is docked, which I would think they could figure out if you don't know, just by telling them the date and cruise ship. It is my understanding that all local excursions not associated with the ships have to stay outside of the port area. When DJ M&SH confirms your excursion with them, they will provide the details of where to meet them, which appeared to be the same place as all of the other non-ship excursions were meeting cruisers (see above video link), and they are all holding signs so you would just need to look for the sign with Daniel Johnson's Monkey & Sloth Hangout. DJ M&SH gave us excellent instructions on where to go and it was super easy to find them. (I had read they give good instructions and it was easy to find them on other reviews before I went, and they were right.) You can probably just follow others out of the port because most, if not all will be heading to the same place. One thing to note: the confirmation also said to meet one hour after the ship docks, but we got off the ship right away and went to the meeting location and didn't have to wait to start the excursion. But, you could check with them during your Facebook correspondence. Make sure you check with DJ M&SH about the different excursion packages they offer. We did the island tour, snorkeling, and monkey/sloth/other animals, which I highly recommend, but you may prefer a different package they offer.
  13. I recommend going to Pinel Island. Here's a video of Pinel Island, which focuses more on the island itself. https://youtu.be/nVazZZTUUiw Subscribe to KD Travel Adventures for more videos. We went to the taxi terminal when we got off the ship and told them we wanted to go to Pinel Island. We ended up sharing a taxi with a couple that wanted to go to Orient Beach. It was on the way to our drop off to take the "ferry" (small boat that holds maybe 30 to 40 people) to Pinel Island. Check times because the first ferry of the day depends on the time of the year. But, we got off the ship right away and just got there early. We did wait a little bit. I've heard good things about the beach, but we didn't spend much time there, as we walked on the trail around the island, which has gorgeous views in all directions. I also tried the snorkeling area (for a fee), and have heard great things about this too, but my experience wasn't the greatest because the water was really choppy and stirred up due to a tropical storm 150 miles away. But, I would go back to Pinel Island in a heartbeat and even try the snorkeling again. HOWEVER, one very important note to make, make sure you tell your taxi to pick you up at a certain time and give yourself enough time to get back. We asked the taxi driver that dropped us off to pick us back up at a specific time and he was right on time. But, there isn't really a place to call for a taxi, so its important to schedule it ahead of time.

  15. I'm not 100% sure, but I believe they told us we could add the snorkeling package when we arrived. I would email them to be certain. We just enjoyed it so much right at the resort that we just decided to stay there all day. I had my own snorkeling gear, and while its definitely not the greatest snorkeling right off the beach (and I've heard some people say they don't see any fish), I was pleasantly surprised at times (although I'm sure you would see a lot more adding their snorkeling package). Here is a video from pics of Nachi Cocom, which includes some snorkeling pics. https://youtu.be/HWVhLuEm46o
