  1. I am going on my 40th birthday cruise in March and I wanted to ask if Izumi was worth the price. I have been on 4 previous cruises but never to Izumi, but love the Hibachi experience. On Independence, do they have the hibachi or just the flat rock experience and do you think it is worth the price? $45/pp out of the gate plus extra for sushi purchases? Any help/prior experiences would be appreciated. Thanks!!
  2. We were sailing with our adult children in 3 cabins on Independence on March 16. We received an automated phone call on March 13 at 4:00 PM telling us our cruise was cancelled. Later, at 7:21 PM we received an email notice of the cancellation. It told us we could take the 125% FCC. It also said, "Please know, if you pre-purchased any amenities and packages, like internet, beverage, dining, or RoyalUp Upgrade, those will be automatically refunded." It doesn't mention port charges and taxes at all. So far, we have received our FCC's. I was patient but it is wearing thin. I spent over $2000 on Cruise Planner items since my son was planning to propose. I did contact Royal Caribbean as their email suggested if I had any questions but I was told that I had to contact my TA so I sent an email today. Has anyone who chose 125% FCC's received a refund of port charges and taxes? Has anyone who chose 125% FCC's gotten their Cruise Planner money refunded yet?
  3. I realize they are different classes, but curious how similar (or different) are these two ships?
  4. https://www.cruisecritic.com/photos/ships/freedom-of-the-seas-358/member-3/58779/ https://boards.cruisecritic.co.uk/topic/1634760-independance-of-the-seas-cabin-7506/ Google is your friend. (and Liberty, Freedom and Independence will look the same for this cabin, layout-wise)
  5. Hello! I was recently on the Independence of the Seas and I stayed in room 6528 which was a spacious balcony room. Honestly, I could only slightly tell the difference between the spacious and the regular balcony room. I posted a YouTube video of a room tour. Feel free to check it out if you’d like!
  6. Question for anyone who has sailed on Independence since she recently moved back from the UK. Does the menu in the MDR still reflect the British fare offered for UK sailings? If so, can you give a review? My husband is a fairly picky eater (he had radiation and chemo that affected his taste and ability to swallow), so we are considering the unlimited dining package for our sailing this Saturday. Thanks!
  7. Are there two formal nights on the Independence of the Seas during a five night cruise? Thank You.
  8. It's 9:52 am and on ptztv port cam I see Independence pulling in at terminal G. Does Indy do a Miami port of call or is it for a medvac.
  9. Hi! long story short, planning on cruising with me my college best friend (both 23yrs old). We both like to party and have fun and did so on carnival last summer. my family cruises royal and I have a credit to use with them so I want to take her on a royal ship. ive narrowed it down to three cruise itineraries, two on Indy and one navigator. which one would have better night life for us? I have been on the independence with my family and have never sailed on the navigator.
  10. They don’t have to move anything there. Look at what they did with moving Independence to FL from SOU in summer 20. They said they didn’t want to redeploy another ship to disturb itineraries on another ship. Was Allure due to sail from Galveston in summer 22 aswell??

  12. onboard IOS now and before sailing I struggled to find pictures of the new suite lounge so here are some!
  13. When Independence was dry docked last year, were all of her cabins updated and refurbished ? I’m considering the 5 night February 3, 2020 sailing out of Ft Lauderdale. How many formal nights are in such a cruise? Which night would it be? This would be my first 5 night cruise.
  14. July 1, 1867 is Canada's Independence Day. 🇨🇦
  15. Looking to book cabin 6313 on the Freedom. If you have stayed in 6313 on the Freedom, Independence or Liberty, can you please give me your opinion of the view and noise from the Promenade? What is below the room? What is across for a view? p.s. I tried to look through the cabin information above, but could not find this information there. Thank you so much!
  16. The DBP package is on sale for my September and October Symphony cruises but not for my July Independence or August Indy and Symphony sailings. Since I expect July/August cruises to be cancelled, I am surprised that those cruises do not have Cruise Planner sales going on right now.
  17. Anyone know where to obtain the list of available karaoke songs on Independence of the Seas, in advance? I've seen the catalogs on MSC and Carnival, and most were quite old songs, or ones I've never heard of at all. Would like to see the choices on Independence ahead of time, if possible.
  18. Itinerary says ship arrives in Cozumel at 10:30 AM. What time can we reasonably expect to be off the ship and getting into a cab? I'm trying to negotiate an excursion time. Thanks!
  19. I have been on Navigator once and Independence twice in the past year (after the refurb of both ships). The ships are similar in design, but I would pick the Independence any day. They did a magnificent job on the refurbishment of Independence and both ships feel brand new now, but I am of the opinion that they over-did it on Navigator. The pool on Navigator deck is beautiful now, but they did way too much to deck 12 for a ship of this size. They added cabanas, hot tubs, etc, but there was not really room for it up there IMO. It is great on Oasis of the Seas where there is room, but it is overcrowded and chopped up feeling on Navigator. They also "enhanced" the gym on Navigator by making it smaller and moving it a strange location with no real view and getting rid of the free sauna and steam rooms. The one positive I would give Navigator is that the stateroom were renovated. On Independence, only furniture that was worn was replaced, so you could get a room with new carpet and chairs, or could not. That said, our cabin on Independence was not in bad shape at all. Independence has the Splashaway Bay waterpark for kids, it is slightly larger, and newer.
  20. Mariner of the Seas September $52 Independence of the Seas December $49 I noticed that other things dropped In price as well that haven’t budged in price for months. I haven’t seen my refund for an excursion I cancelled for the September trip last week yet. We are hoping the December trip happens, so I’ll take the gamble on purchases for that trip. Just will pay with Amex because they are great if you have a dispute.

  24. Has anyone stayed on deck 2 midship on the Independence? Is it true it is very loud due to the waves. I was thinking of moving to deck 3 but deck 4 has a lot of bars, so wouldn't it be just as loud? I apologize if this is a stupid question, but I've never been on the Freedom class ships. Thank you for your help!!
