  1. Hi were going on Independence of the seas for 3 nights end Aug , have no onboard spending. If we link our Halifax clarity card to our account and are billed in usd I'm I correct in thinking we would get conversion charges? Also if we are people from another cabin onto our card does the final statement have the cabin numbers on it ? So we can sort who spent what?I Thanks
  2. Independence of the Seas & Liberty of the Seas
  3. Does anyone happen to have copies of the 4 day recent daily activities papers?
  4. My first experience in a Diamond Lounge set the rest up for failure. On Independence, (Dec 2017) they had Iced cucumber water each day, with selections of fruit. I basically hung out in the Viking Crown, just outside the lounge reading and hydrating all day. It was one of the most relaxing 5 days I have ever had. Now that I think about it, I do not think I stepped foot in there during cocktail hours. I have not seen cucumber water, or a fruit selection during the day like I saw on Independence, on any other ship I have sailed since. 😞
  5. Hi everyone! My first cruise in 12 years...crazy! Going on a spring break cruise with my 13 year old- her first time. I had a few questions for the regulars: we are booked in a JS on deck 9- I was reading last night that this is directly under a cantilevered hot tub...is this a bad thing? What to do in Coco Cay? I’m assuming water park won’t be open yet? Was thinking of renting a cabana or beach spot for some much needed sun..how does food and drink work on the beach there? Flying into FLL very early...my docs say arrive noon. I figured we would have breakfast at the airport and then head over to the port. Should I arrange private ground transportation or is uber at FLL a fine way to go? Does anyone have a transportation company they recommend? i guess I last cruised prior to the ultra digital age...I saw luggage tags I could print out with my docs...I guess I just tape that flat on our luggage?? thank you!
  6. We've just done a cruise on the Jewel in June and away again on her in October and IMHO she's perfect for Europe! Having done Navigator, Independence and numerous Oasis class cruises she was surprisingly roomy and not at all busy in the usual places like the WJ/pools etc
  7. Is this only on Independence? Just wondering what the show is on Explorer of the Seas, leaving Southampton 31.08.19.
  8. Anyone know what make of pods the machines take in the suites on the Brilliance and Independence so I can take my own, I drink a lot of coffee. I've tried and tried but can't find the information anywhere, thanks.
  9. Hi everyone! I am looking for some input on your FAVORITE Junior Suites or Grand Suites on Independence of the Seas? My BF (C&A Diamond status) and I are looking to plan a short 4 night cruise (destination TBD) in late 2020 or early 2021. Balcony is really what is most important to us as we enjoy spending out there relaxing, reading, drinking our morning coffee or pre-dinner cocktails. Trying to decide on which Junior Suite or Grand Suite might work best for us. We plan on booking pretty far out and from what I am seeing, the cost difference between the JS and GS isn't that obscene on some of the itineraries. For a 4 night cruise, some of the perks of the GS (cocktail hour) may help minimize our bar tab -vs- if we chose going the JS route. We don't do a drink package, but do enjoy our cocktails! Our preferences: Cabin location; AFT/MID/FWD are all up for consideration Balcony SIZE & some SUN is priority Unobstructed view is preferred We typically take the STAIRS to move between floors (our rationalization for dessert!) No physical limitations, so proximity to elevators is NOT a concern I've seen other threads for other ships with folks weighing in on their favorite JS and GS suites, so I am looking for help here narrowing down room selections. Would appreciate any insight and also any photos of your balconies on Independence to help with our booking decisions! Thanks in advance 🙂
  10. Hi going on the independence of the seas in October just wondered who is the cruise director really hoping it’s Joff who was on last year he was one of the best ones.Any info would be appreciated.
  11. Hi, Has anyone any experience staying in a Grand Suite on deck 10 on the Indpendance OTS? We are wondering about any noise disturbance etc from deck 11. thanks

  16. That is the same place we went on Independence. It started just at the end of first seating and lasted until second seating was almost done. It seemed very quiet in the dining rooms.
  17. Chef's table still not included, just curious as what ship you are sailing. We have done Chefs table on Allure and Independence. Allure was great as it was upstairs in the Diamond Lounge, on Indy they use the pop out balcony that is between MDR second and third level. Well worth the price especially if you can get a discount. happy cruising
  18. Been twice, first time in a balcony room and muster was in Boleros on Liberty. On Independence we had an inside room and muster was on deck under a lifeboat.
  19. Here's a couple of our experiences. We were on the inaugural sailing of the Allure...we were to board Celebrity Solstice after that cruise. Before we disembarked the Allure, we went to the top deck and simply looked for the Solstice. We got lucky! It was just next door. We were one of the last ones to disembarked the Allure and walked to the next terminal and were one of the first to board the Solstice. Disclosure: It was an easy walk for us...one luggage each with good rollers. But as everyone said, it is not pedestrian friendly. The second time, we went from the Independence of the Seas to Royal Princess. We did exactly the same thing...went to the top deck and looked for the Royal Princess. We didn't get lucky this time...it was way out around terminal 1 or 2. We had a few options...guest services informed us that Royal Caribbean has a free shuttle that can take us to another Royal Caribbean or Celebrity ship...but not Princess. There was also a free shuttle to the parking garage...the parking garage just happened to be next to where Royal Princess was docked. After disembarking the Independence, we easily found the free shuttle to the parking garage. I politely and kindly asked the driver if he can drop us off at the Royal Princess on his way to the parking garage. He made a radio call to deviate and told us "no problem". We were happy...he dropped us off next to the Royal Princess. (Handed him a nice tip.) Taxi is perhaps the easiest...but as already discussed, the cab driver may not like it. Let him know and tip him well. You can also use the one of the various car rental shuttles that stop at every terminal to pick up passengers. We used to be able to do this...but recently, the shuttle drivers may ask if you have rental documentation. There is also a free shuttle for crew members...that goes around each terminal...😊...we've known passengers who "accidentally" got on this shuttle and said the driver was really friendly. Happy sailing!😊
  20. Royal wants $59/day for our Allure cruise next month and $65/day for Independence cruise in December. Reality is we will not be buying the drinking package at those prices. We will adjust by bringing two bottles of wine with us when we board, use drink coupons, use the discount for wine deal with specialty dining, and taking advantage of a couple of private excursions that include drinks. We will still buy a drink or two. We will have a great time on our cruises with or without the drinking package.

  22. We just got off Independence of the Seas and I just wanted to say wonderful things about our experience at Izumi! We're vegan but can always find things to survive on while onboard. I even had heard Indy is one of the RCCL ships with the vegan menu in the main dining room and was excited to find out and try it BUT we never made it to the MDR 🙂 We were travelling with son and his GF (22 & 21) and we just never made it to the MDR and often just did the WJ or had eaten lunch late so snacked. One night husband and I were hungry but not up for the WJ so we asked at Izumi if we could just do sushi a la carte. They seated us at the sushi bar and we asked if they could do vegan sushi for us - we've usually found when travelling that chefs are happy to do this and love to get creative. Orlando ROCKED - he made us a ton of food and we were shocked it only came to $12 before tip (sushi was $6 per person for veggie sushi). We also loved the edamame though I would have eaten another bowl if that was also on the menu. We raved about it so much we came back 2 nights later with son and his GF (they had seen the picture I took from night one and wanted to try it too and they are not vegan) - that time the bar was full but they didn't have any more reservations for the hibachi stations so sat us at one and Orlando went even above what he did before! We tipped generously both nights and told him how much we loved it. My son couldn't believe they didn't have this sushi on the menu. Here are the pics I took - this is 2 orders on one plate as my husband and I happily let him put it all on one plate!

  25. We purchased The Key for our Independence of the Seas 4 day cruise in December. The cost was 19.99 day, so for the two of us the cost of The Key was $160 for our cruise. We cancelled our two device internet that we had purchased on sale for 20.99 a day, so this saved $84.00. Since we will get to eat a nice lunch at Chop's on embarkation, that is a big plus and worth $40. After enjoying the above, The Key is still costing us about $36. The ability to drop off our bags and not drag around our wine is easily worth $10.00 to me. Having a nice breakfast and an easier way off the ship the last day is easily worth the difference for us to purchase The Key. Having priority check in, priority seating and private hours on Flow Rider and hopefully Ice Skating made purchasing The Key an even better benefit. We have a cruise on the Allure next month and the cost of The Key is $29.99/day, total cruise price for two $420.00. The cost of the Key on our Allure cruise would be a waste of money as it seems very overpriced. We agree with others who said, The Key is a better deal on shorter cruises, not so much on longer cruises.
