  2. We stayed in the sweet on Independence. It's an amazing value if you are ok with a Promenade room (which we like). I have a few pictures and a review in my link here if interested:
  3. Looks like the balcony might have an view issue one way because it seems to be the first cabin next to the hump area. Have never been on this ship and haven't cruised RC in a very long time. Any cabin advice appreciated, for this cabin, or in general. Particularly interested in a quiet sleep situation as we are light sleepers. Thank you so very much!
  4. We will be taking a private shuttle service from London to Southampton and would love to avoid the crowds. What time can you board in Southampton? The ship sails at 4:30 p.m.
  5. We were thinking of booking two of the new cabins 8443 and 8445 on Independence. Since they are close to the stairs and the elevator we were wondering if it's noisy. Are those cabins newer than the other inside cabins?
  6. Ben & Jerry "Sweet" is only Liberty, Freedom, and Independence. It is room 6305.
  7. Updated 8/8/19 --- My hope is to put update this thread every few days or at least once week. To do that, I need cruisers (or others that somehow have 'insider information') to let me know who they come across on sailings. HAPPY CRUISING! What Activity Manager have you come across? Post the name, ship and sailing date to help keep this thread as accurate as possible. ****Adventure OTS – Kelly Leuch, her first assignment as AM. She was GREAT said a cruiser on board with her….how terrific! ****Allure OTS – It has been mentioned to me that Moe was reassigned to Allure instead of going to Coco Cay. Assata Young-Mayers was expected to be taking over on July 14. Looking for a cruiser to confirm who is onboard. ****Anthem OTS – Tresha Robb has posted that she is onboard. I am trying to find out more on this. ****Brilliance OTS – TT has been reported as onboard on the completed sailing 4/20/19 and still onboard for the May 4 – 19 transatlantic sailing. No information on when he started to guess how long he might be onboard. ****Empress OTS – Tanya was on board, as per a cruiser in June. Probably took over from Eric Lopez. ****Enchantment OTS – Saini has been onboard, but could be completing a contract and departing the ship. Who is currently onboard? ****Explorer OTS – Katie (unknown last name, but not to be confused with Katie Turner) took over on June 26 and she is expected to be onboard until the end of October. ****Freedom OTS – Bern has been identified as currently on board. No information on contract timeline. ****Grandeur OTS – Mike Thompson took over from Katrina Blair on 6/13. She is returning to Grandeur on 8/13 after her vacation. *****Harmony – Chris Turdo should have taken over from Mosese on July 28. ****Independence OTS – Katie Turner has taken over to cover Allison Hasler’s vacation in June. Alison Hasler is expected to return in August. *****Jewel OTS – Luana from Brazil returned to Jewel in mid May. As of the 7/14 sailing she was still on board. Probably a 4 month contract through sometime in Sept. *****Liberty OTS – Kim is now on Liberty, unsure of start date… ****Majesty OTS – Who has taken over from Mauricio Diaz who departed the ship on 6/15 for vacation. WHO is currently onboard? I have asked Mauricio if he is going to return to MJ when he returns from vacation. *****Mariner OTS – Gemma has taken over from Alex Paul late July for a 4 month contract. *****Navigator OTS – Looking to find out who is onboard now? *****Oasis OTS – Nick is onboard and probably took over mid March. ***** Ovation – Angelle took over on 5/13 and she should be on a regular contract length, so onboard until mid Sept. Aysy should be taking over at that time. *****Quantum – Who is currently onboard. *****Radiance OTS – Sophie is currently onboard on the 7/30 sailing as reported to me, by the CD on the ship, Mark Rous. **** Rhapsody OTS – Who is onboard NOW? **** Serenade OTS – Elizabeth Hackett was on the March 25th sailing. She may have arrived n mid February, and could be on a 4 month contract until June. I do know she is still onboard of 5/30. **** Spectrum OTS – Chinese young lady named Raphael (unsure of spelling). **** Symphony OTS – Hannah has joined the ship late June. Hannah will be on the ship until Sept 21, when Flavio Maeda takes over when he returns from his vacation. ***** Vision OTS – Palo has been identified as onboard, unsure when his contract began. *****Voyager OTS – Kitty has been onboard since May 3, 2019. 8. We will be in 9640 on Independence in March. Thank you for this video and review of the room!
  9. Had a bad sea day weather wise on Independence a few years ago and they opened the main show venue for movies. Who doesn't like drinking umbrella cocktails while watching movies? It was nice and the movie wasn't too bad either (it was a current one as well.)
  10. Anyone got any info on time frame of Independence (coco-cay ) sailings , if they will continue all western or east also. We are on the 4-27-20 sailing and wouldn't mind picking up a back to back. Bob
  11. Hi CC. I am due to go on the Indie at the end of June and was wondering if anyone has recently sailed on her and if so what was it like? Is it still in good repair? Food okay? Service? Etc
  12. I am struggling to find customer photos, videos, comments on the family stateroom 2309 on indepence of the seas. Can anyone help? TIA

  14. My first experience in a Diamond Lounge set the rest up for failure. On Independence, (Dec 2017) they had Iced cucumber water each day, with selections of fruit. I basically hung out in the Viking Crown, just outside the lounge reading and hydrating all day. It was one of the most relaxing 5 days I have ever had. Now that I think about it, I do not think I stepped foot in there during cocktail hours. I have not seen cucumber water, or a fruit selection during the day like I saw on Independence, on any other ship I have sailed since. 😞
  15. Most cruise-ships I have been on have a seldom used or known of door that leads to an outside deck. Is there any secrets on Independence of the Seas? Spa question: Is the steam room open to all guests or is it pay to use?
  16. Thanks, you obviously know this is the anniversary of Hiroshima, and maybe that its Jamaican Independence Day. But I was born in 1962, so Jamaica and I share the actual year. Also, I was born the day after Marilyn Monroe died.
  17. Going on the Indy in August and just wondered about trying the Skypad? Have looked on YouTube but it doesn't really give me any idea if my husband and I would enjoy it or not. We are both 50+. Any thoughts/advice gratefully received!
  18. How early can you drop off your bags at the port? I'll be sailing on the independence in Nov and we land around 8am so will probably be at the port around 8-9am. Thanks.
  19. Has any received the FCC 25% off of their cancelled Independence of the Seas cruises from either RCC or their travel agents.
  20. Yes!! According to the deck plans, it shows that #8564 is a spacious ocean view balcony cabin, as it's shaded in purple on the deck plans; window cabins are shaded in blue. Just google Independence of the Seas deck plans, then pull down the drop down on the right, and you'll see what I mean. Congrats to you both and cheers!!
  21. On Independence in May out of Southampton and Giovanni's was $32pp We used our D+ BOGO and got $32 for 2 total for night 1 and for night 2. It was very quiet so we got $32 total for night 3 too.
  22. When we boarded Independence in May they were serving free glasses of Champagne on the promenade. The waiter recognised my DS badge and kept bringing us more glasses.
  23. Here's a couple of our experiences. We were on the inaugural sailing of the Allure...we were to board Celebrity Solstice after that cruise. Before we disembarked the Allure, we went to the top deck and simply looked for the Solstice. We got lucky! It was just next door. We were one of the last ones to disembarked the Allure and walked to the next terminal and were one of the first to board the Solstice. Disclosure: It was an easy walk for us...one luggage each with good rollers. But as everyone said, it is not pedestrian friendly. The second time, we went from the Independence of the Seas to Royal Princess. We did exactly the same thing...went to the top deck and looked for the Royal Princess. We didn't get lucky this time...it was way out around terminal 1 or 2. We had a few options...guest services informed us that Royal Caribbean has a free shuttle that can take us to another Royal Caribbean or Celebrity ship...but not Princess. There was also a free shuttle to the parking garage...the parking garage just happened to be next to where Royal Princess was docked. After disembarking the Independence, we easily found the free shuttle to the parking garage. I politely and kindly asked the driver if he can drop us off at the Royal Princess on his way to the parking garage. He made a radio call to deviate and told us "no problem". We were happy...he dropped us off next to the Royal Princess. (Handed him a nice tip.) Taxi is perhaps the easiest...but as already discussed, the cab driver may not like it. Let him know and tip him well. You can also use the one of the various car rental shuttles that stop at every terminal to pick up passengers. We used to be able to do this...but recently, the shuttle drivers may ask if you have rental documentation. There is also a free shuttle for crew members...that goes around each terminal...😊...we've known passengers who "accidentally" got on this shuttle and said the driver was really friendly. Happy sailing!😊
  24. Thanks for your comments. I am on Independence now, already 1of 2 weeks passed. 😭 So far well managed with pillow bumps. Didn't know there is blow up bed guards! Something to consider for next holiday.
  25. We're back! Our cruise was 4/29-5/4. It was hubby and I plus our 4 kids (15, 12, 7, 3). I'll try to keep this short and sweet. 😉 Check in was fairly easy. Our stateroom wasn't what we expected. We originally were going to book 2 connecting oceanviews, but went with the advice of costumer service and got a room that should fit all 6 of us! It was category 1k, suppose to be 351sqft. It was decent but smaller than expected and having 2 bathrooms would've been better. Beds were super hard, and no fan for white noise. 😕 The view out the front of the ship was amazing though! Food was ok, desserts were awesome. Windjammer is crowded at times but there's plenty of seating. Only complaint is buffet isn't open late enough. Activities were unfortunately lacking. They had more activities offered during port days which made no sense obviously. Then there would be things going on during the times the kids rooms were closed. Adult shows were often after 10pm, when you would get charged for using the kids rooms (which we didn't do). The last night, there was a farewell comedian in the Royal Theater at 7:15. He was done a little before 8pm. We took our 2 older kids to our room to get their bathing suits on, they went to the pool. Hubby and I went right back down to the Star lounge for an adult show (finally something we could go to). Well, we get there and there's no seats and people were standing! They know this is a popular show, why not have it in the theater?? So we left. 😞 Excursions....in Costa Maya we did the Chacchoben ruins, booked through Native Choice. We really liked it! However, I wouldn't recommend for kids under 10. They just don't care, lol. One of our tour guides were awesome...he kept an eye on our little one so hubby and I could somewhat pay attention to our other guide. Highly recommend them. In Cozumel, we took the ferry to Playa del Carmen and went to Xcaret. The ferry wasn't bad, 45mins and then a bus ride which was maybe 10-15mins. Xcaret was nice, but again wouldn't recommend with young ones if you plan on doing the river. Our 7 year old did good but our 3 year old, no. We didn't know until just before hopping in the "cold" water while signing the waiver that you can't touch bottom. So we had to not only swim, but take turns swimming while holding a 3 year old. Fun! And, there's bats in the caves!! I'm glad we experienced it, but wouldn't do again. The rest of the park was nice and well taken care of. Took the advice of the tour guide on where to eat, he even walked us there, and he must've known the owner because we ended up spending $100. But unfortunately couldn't find menus with prices before our trip, so oh well. All in all it was a great trip! Would I do RC again, not sure. The ship was just too big and confusing. Sorry to say, but Carnival are called the fun ships for a reason. 😉 However, the Independence is a beautiful ship, I just would prefer a smaller ship. P.S. We got to see the Carnival Fantasy again! Sailed on her 5 years ago. Was docked right next to us, it was cool.
