  1. Thanks. The same happened to us once on Independence before you could use your vouchers in the restaurant. We carried 4 glasses to Giovanni's. 🍾
  2. Did Indy get a Freestyle Coke Machine during the refurbishment?
  3. Sorry... I'm sure this has been asked many times. New to RC. I was able to make MyTime dining reservations for Independence for May but can't make for shows... do these show up closer to sailing? and if so when? or are reservations not needed on Independence? thanks so much!
  4. >>>>>>> "The 'golden age of cruising' (before March 2020) is finished."<<<<<<< Sad but true. I was on Independence, March 12, 2020, which may have been my last Royal cruise. I hope to be proven wrong! We were temperature scanned entering the terminal, but did not need masks then. The ship seemed half full. The SL and DL were ominously very empty every evening. Grecia, and Ooma were wonderful as always, hope they are doing OK. The flu was in the news and causing great consternation at Royal. In fact Royal banned people over 70 following that cruise, the panic was starting to cause official reaction. Turns out that they cancelled all following cruises after that one... on Indy anyway. IMHO, it was not very fun, although the crew were terrific. We do not want to cruise like that again. Royal's conundrum....... is 'How to make us want to cruise again?'
  5. I gave up on October and lifted and shifted the Independence. Still hoping for the Harmony in November, but very doubtful.
  6. I'm not very good at the category types. We had Independence booked for December in Spacious Ocean View Balcony (Room 1400) and we did L&S to Symphony and they gave us Ocean View w/Large Balcony (Room 10200).
  7. We will have a party of 6 in a panoramic ocean view suite on our Indy booking this July, including two teenage boys and two teenage girls. From what I can tell, there is only one shower in this suite. Our cabin is in the same area where the Spa and Gym are located and I understand there are showers located in that area. With so many of us in one suite, and with only one shower, will they let us use the showers in the gym/spa area?
  8. I called and was able to L&S with no problem. When asked what I wanted to shift to, I said, “The 5 night Western Caribbean and Perfect Day on the Mariner on 11/1/21”. I was on hold for a while, so I don’t know if she questioned the itinerary or not, but she was able to shift it without mentioning an issue to me. We really wanted to be on the Independence on October 12; I hope that giving it up before it is cancelled will be a jinx and the Indy will sail without us. I know better, but maybe...
  9. Sorry if this has been asked...haven’t been able to find any details. We were thrilled with our ship/itinerary - 5 days on Independence August 17-22 stopping at cococay and labadee. There are very few 5 day itineraries next summer and zero that go to cococay. Will we be able to Lift & Shift, or are we out of luck? Any idea what options will be available? Of course can’t get through anywhere yet to ask... thanks in advance!!
  10. I have a “5 night Western Caribbean and Perfect Day” out of Fort Lauderdale booked on the Independence for October 12, 2020. It is going to be cancelled any minute now and I considered L&S instead of refund. I found a “5 night Western Caribbean and Perfect Day” out of Port Canaveral on the Mariner for November 1, 2021, and tried to use the online form. It is telling me, “ The reservation number entered is not eligible for the Lift and Shift program. There are no alternate sailings.” What is wrong with that? I know I could call, but I am still leaning 60% towards refund, so I don’t want to obligate right now.
  11. It has been a few years so help me please. Husband wanted a February get away so we booked on the Independence for Feb 13 to 17th. I am looking at the forum and can't find any threads on that ship. i love reading everything and getting excited. Also there were no suites left (yes I called C&A to book and see if there were any being held) so we booked a balcony on the hump. We are mere Emeralds so i was wondering if any one thinks the new key program is any good. price aside I am wondering about seats for the shows as it is Presidents day weekend and i know there will be plenty of other teaching staff as well as families with kids that are on break. What are the chances of the deluxe drink package going on sale...hubby drinks plenty I drink rarely looking to get a deluxe and a refresh. How about a message , book ahead or wait? And lastly pray we don't get snow I really want to go on this cruise!!!!!
  12. Is it isolated from sound well? I understand it’s in between the atrium and the lido deck quite equally. We’re also in a corner aft so hopefully no sex noises through the thin walls, far away from most cabins.
  13. Has anyone recently been on Indy with Unlimited Dining Package and might have some feedback to share? It's $95pp for our 4 night sailing in December and I'm considering it. This will be our first time sailing her. I was a bit underwhelmed with Chops the last time I was on Oasis so I'm waffling between specialty dining and MDR.
  14. Juggie, from Juggie’s Place in St. Maartin, posted a photo on his Facebook page of Independence docked this am. First cruise ship in months, either disembarking employees, or re-stocking?
  15. Our cruise on Independence is the same right now. We already have 2 earlier cruises where we are getting 40% off invested. Tough call, but we are going to wait on this one and take a chance it will come back as things stabilize more.
  16. Just to keep up appearances of normality. I have NO idea who's on now. 17. I have been on Navigator once and Independence twice in the past year (after the refurb of both ships). The ships are similar in design, but I would pick the Independence any day. They did a magnificent job on the refurbishment of Independence and both ships feel brand new now, but I am of the opinion that they over-did it on Navigator. The pool on Navigator deck is beautiful now, but they did way too much to deck 12 for a ship of this size. They added cabanas, hot tubs, etc, but there was not really room for it up there IMO. It is great on Oasis of the Seas where there is room, but it is overcrowded and chopped up feeling on Navigator. They also "enhanced" the gym on Navigator by making it smaller and moving it a strange location with no real view and getting rid of the free sauna and steam rooms. The one positive I would give Navigator is that the stateroom were renovated. On Independence, only furniture that was worn was replaced, so you could get a room with new carpet and chairs, or could not. That said, our cabin on Independence was not in bad shape at all. Independence has the Splashaway Bay waterpark for kids, it is slightly larger, and newer.
  18. I have never sailed on Independence before, can you tell me what kind of shows they put on and do you need reservations for them. On the Allure you needed reservations.
  19. We sail on Indy on Saturday Canary Cruise from Southampton, its been a long while since we have been on RCI can you help me with a few questions Is there a kettle and tea making facilities in the stateroom. How many formal nights will there be (12 night cruise). How many wear DJ's don't want to look out of place when i wear mine! What complimentary shower gel and shampoo etc is provided What sockets are provided in stateroom. Are most night in dining room casual dress code i assume chinos or smart jeans are ok, and smart polo shirts are ok with no motifs. Is it very easy to swap when on board from early dinning to any time dinning. Do you have to book climbing wall, flow rider and laser game. We have a prepaid drinks package, can you advise how the wine and port works with dinner. How does the coffee and cake work work with the drinks package. On boarding day are there any dinning rooms open for lunch or do we have to use the 'Bun Fight Area'. Do they have late buffet in the casinos like NCL Wheres the best place for a snack late at night like fish and chips or spicy chicken wings like NCL. Can you self disembark on arrival back at Southampton. Do they do a 'Mudslide Cocktail' at the bars. Thanks in advance
  20. Can I lift & shift a 6 night Western on Independence to a 6 night Western on Odyssey? We are in a JS on Independence (was booked as a Guarantee but cabin already assigned). Seems like it would be a big 'upgrade' getting a JS on a Quantum class ship. Not sure if we want to lift & shift yet will probably leave a bit closer to August and re-assess then, but just curious if we can! Have it booked as a S2S with Western Oasis in January so would need to move that to an Eastern Oasis in 2022 to make the dates work, but from what I've already read that would be fine. Thanks
  21. Hi were going on a 3 night cruise on Independence of the seas at the end Aug looked on the app and can't see a showing of Grease, on there does that mean it won't be on those 3 days ? Thanks
  22. I’m looking ahead to 2022 and researching cruises for me, my husband and my son that will be 11 then. We are looking to go away in February. Because we will be pulling our son out of school we are looking at a shorter cruise so we can also have a day or two in Florida pre cruise. What are people’s opinion on a 4 night on independence or a 5 night or Mariner?
  23. I prefer to make my coffee as a double espresso with a cappuccino added from the DL or CL machine. The coffee at Seattle's best next to Promenade cafe on Independence was not very nice. I don't mind paying for a Starbucks coffee on Harmony.
  24. Hi were going on a 3 night on Independence of the seas end August from Southampton just a couple of ? Do they have a kettle? Do they have tea bags , coffee in rooms? What plug sockets do the have is it US ones? Our first time on RC. Thanks
  25. My fiancé and I have decided for our honeymoon for the Independence of the Seas Oceanview Balcony. I am really nervous to book because I want to make sure that room 8564 has sliding balcony doors for the view. I searched and searched online and can’t find the answer. If anyone has stayed in this room and can answer and/or has any insight we would greatly appreciate it!!!! Thank you! 😀
