  1. My fiancé and I are looking to book a JS Balcony room for our honeymoon and we have narrowed it down to 2 balconies. I thought we were going with 9638, but I just found that the piano from the suite above may be loud. Any insight on 9638 or 9264 would greatly be appreciated. Also, do all JS Balconies have 2 lounger chairs? thank you, thank you 😀
  2. Hi were going on a 3 night cruise on Independence of the seas at the end Aug looked on the app and can't see a showing of Grease, on there does that mean it won't be on those 3 days ? Thanks
  3. Follow along with me, on this, our first trip across the pond. For the next two weeks, plus, we are getting our first exposure to England, Spain, France, and Italy. It it is a good sign when you look out your window, and see your ship waiting for you.
  4. Hi, please can anyone tell me what storage there is for the 3rd and 4th person in the lounge ? I can see pictures of the wardrobe and drawers for the master bedroom but I can’t find any details of what storage there is in the lounge area. Just thinking i may have to bring a clothes rail for my kids. On other sailings there has always been a double wardrobe in the lounge but I can’t see anything from the pictures on line. Also so does anyone know of what the benefits are staying in this suite or are they the same as staying in other suites. If if anyone has any pictures I’d really appreciate it. Many thanks
  5. I know Gold Card Suite passengers are offered a made to order breakfast in Chops on Independence of the Seas. Is there a made to order lunch for suite guests in Chops or is it just a sitting area to eat your Windjammer meal?
  6. Hi were going on a 3 night on Independence of the seas end August from Southampton just a couple of ? Do they have a kettle? Do they have tea bags , coffee in rooms? What plug sockets do the have is it US ones? Our first time on RC. Thanks
  7. My fiancé and I have decided for our honeymoon for the Independence of the Seas Oceanview Balcony. I am really nervous to book because I want to make sure that room 8564 has sliding balcony doors for the view. I searched and searched online and can’t find the answer. If anyone has stayed in this room and can answer and/or has any insight we would greatly appreciate it!!!! Thank you! 😀
  8. I am sailing this weekend on Independence of the seas to celebrate my dad's 70's birthday with my family of 4 incl 2 small kids, my parents and a brother, total 7 of us. We had cruises with other cruise lines but all first time with RCCL. I have done some research but couldn't find all the answers and would like to get some help. Your comments on any of following will be greatly appreciated! 1. We are staying in suites and just got a message from concierge as a reply of my question, if there are any specific nights that MDR is recommended over specialty restaurants (because my parents are not huge fan of buffet and probably will go either specialty restaurant of MDR for dinners). The concierge recommended MDR on formal nights which is 3, 10 and 13th day. I was wondering if there is any difference in themes or ambiance on each formal nights or is it pretty much the same? Any other nights do you recommend to stay in MDR ? 2. I am trying to arrange celebration dinner in one of the specialty restaurants or on chef's table (I guess it is table in MDR?) Which one would you recommend and do they do birthday cakes or anything for the special occasion? 3. Concierge said that there are reserved seats in the shows for suite and diamond/pinnacle guests and advised to arrive 15mins before the show. Is it usually competitive or easy to get a seat? I wonder how early I should arrive to get a seat safely. I guess it is full ship on this sailing as in the middle of school hols. 4. Concierge confirmed that there are no bed guards available. I am planning to put my 2 kids(4 and 8) in the king bed to share or one each in single beds, but little bit worried about 4 yrs old as I will be sleeping in different room. I have fordable bed guard at home, would it be worth to carry it? Thank you!
  9. onboard IOS now and before sailing I struggled to find pictures of the new suite lounge so here are some!
  10. Hi all, We will be sailing in March on Independence of the Seas in cabin 9640 which is the center hump balcony cabin on the port side. Anyone have any thoughts they can share about this cabin? I think Liberty and Freedom of the Seas are the same class of ship for anyone who has sailed on her sister ships. Thanks!
  11. Hi Everyone I am wondering about the Diamond Lounge. Sailing in April 2020 on Independence and will have just turned Diamond. Is there food ? Drinks ? Open all day ? Thanks for any information or comments. ☀️🌴
  12. Quick question. We’re sailing at the end of Nov and wonder if anyone knows what time the hot tubs close in the Solarium (if they close at all) ? We know they definitely close down the pools at a certain time but not sure about the hot tubs. Thank you!
  13. I have a dilemma and wonder if anyone has any advise. I am looking at Indi cruise ex Southampton on the 26September. This is an extra sneaky cruise, have really used up our quota for this year so would be doing this on the cheap. The UK website still shows over 200 rooms available. Do you think the price may come down after final payment with this large number of capacity? Final payment here in UK is at 57 days out which would be July 31st. The dilemma is that I have GBP200 of Tesco vouchers to use which would knock GBP600 off the price but the terms and conditions to use Tesco vouchers state that the cruise has to be booked and paid for no later than 56 days before departure, so a very small window Any advise from anyone who has done late bookings after final payment when there is still a lot of rooms available? We were going to do a land touring holiday in Europe, but if I can get the price down hubby may go for another cruise thanks for any advise Sue
  14. We're just doing a 3 night cruise in August our first in RC, really like to do the Escape room can it be booked before or once on the ship? We have booked the Sky pad is that all that can be booked ? Want to try and get most things done as will everyone else. How does it work once onboard? Also the Laser what's your experience of doing these t things Thanks
  15. I understand these 2 BR grand suites located in the aft of the ship were previously one larger suite (Presidential maybe)? My question is because these suites are essentially one very large suite split into two large suites, is there an advantage of one side vs the other? From what I can tell on Youtube, aside from the differences in the layout (for example, where the master is located), the two cabins on each aft seem similar. The only exception is looking at the balconies for 6416 and 6716 where the port side cabin has a bar, and the starboard side cabin has a hottub left over from the one huge balcony for when the two were one large cabin.
  16. we are going on Indy at the end of August. I have some questions if anyone knows the answers. Do they take take away your belongings from the suite deck loungers if you’re in the pool more than 30 mins or away for more than 30 mins ? I know they do with the normal chairs round the pool. is ice cream self serve or is someone there making them ? royal suite - does anyone know how many the hot tub on the balcony will hold ? and also is the sofa bed comfy ? My kids will be sleeping in there. It looks grubby in some pictures and not in others. Any ideas ? Does anyone have the past 2019 cruise compass for Southampton to Spain and France ? Many thanks
  17. https://help.royalcaribbean.co.uk/hc/en-gb/sections/360004499552-Independence-of-the-Seas-2020-changes-to-sailings I've just spotted this on one of the UK TA sites and have found this on the RCL UK site. Looks like only Anthem will be sailing from Southampton next year. Sorry if it's already been posted but couldn't see anything on here.
  18. I didn't see this topic posted, so apologize if this is a duplicate. I received an email this morning letting me know that the cruise I'm booked on has now been chartered. We were on the January 16th sailing to Grand Cayman and Coco Cay out of Fort Lauderdale. They did give me options, but nothing with Coco Cay, which is why we booked that one in the first place. Still, we chose one of the options that was price protected and will stop in Grand Cayman and Cozumel instead. Bummer, but we had such a deal and not a lot of flexibility on dates, and Cozumel is fun. I did a quick search and here's what the charter is. http://www.capitaljazz.com/supercruise/2021/
  19. Hi I was wonder if ID still has a free sauna/ steamer and gym thank you
  20. Hi all We’ve been on the Independence of the Seas now for 6 days of a 14 night Western Mediterranean cruise. I thought that I would offer my impression of the cruise so far. We have cruised RCCL and Celebrity many time before but unfortunately, due to illness, we have not been able to cruise for the last three years. Ok, so embarkation was a breeze. I was concerned about this because we had about 70kg of medical supplies as well as luggage to get onto the ship. After much liaising with RCCL Special Services we were met outside the terminal in Southampton by a porter who unloaded the luggage from the car and took it straight to our stateroom. The time was 10.10am. I then parked the car and went to check in. I had completed our set sail passes online and had expedited check in which was a breeze. A quick scan of the Royal app on our phones, a few questions and straight through security and into the lounge to wait for boarding to commence. By 10.35am we were in the Schooner Bar. Well done to all involved for such a smooth boarding process. After a quick drink in Schooner we went to Guest Relations to ask if we could make sure our medical supplies had arrived in the room. Usually you can’t go to the stateroom until 1pm but they allowed us to go early to check everything. All had been delivered so now time to relax and enjoy the next 14 nights and days. Neither Tracy or myself are big drinkers but the drink package was included in our cruise fare, I won’t say it was free because we all know that you get nothing for free. The first evening of the cruise was crowded. Two things stood out, after the late seating dinner had finished you could not get a seat in any of the bars, and there was a distinct lack of bar servers. This may be because there is the impression that the Brits will go to the bar if they want a drink, which I suppose is not wrong, but if you are trying to encourage people to go to the bar for there drinks it might be a good idea to remove the seating from around the bar so people can get to it. Personally, I prefer to be served my drink when I am on a cruise so maybe I’m not a ‘typical Brit’. The other thing that we discovered was that our stateroom was directly over the Pub!!!! This is by no means a criticism of Royal Caribbean, I should have done my research first. Let’s just say that if you don’t anticipate being out until around 12.30am then try to avoid the rooms over the Pub. The second day was the first sea day and as the ship was crossing the Bay of Biscay it wasn’t really outside pool/Sunbathing weather. Everyone was inside. Once again the bars were full and finding a seat was difficult. Not only that but there was a distinct lack of drink menus in any of the bars. There are now drinks men’s on most tables but the bar servers are still missing. Perhaps they abandoned ship before the started its season in Southampton knowing what some Brits are like with tipping!!! We’re going to dinner now, I’ll update tomorrow. Any questions? Ask away.
  21. This is our first cruise on one of the biggie ships and the first with our grandchildren There are so many activities and I know that not everything is included ( I wonder if I can keep the arcade a sectet ? ) Is the lazer tag a charge ? How about the trampoline? This is the first time we have had to worry about kids, it is usually all about which drink card to get lol Thanks for your help Kris
  22. Looks like the balcony might have an view issue one way because it seems to be the first cabin next to the hump area. Have never been on this ship and haven't cruised RC in a very long time. Any cabin advice appreciated, for this cabin, or in general. Particularly interested in a quiet sleep situation as we are light sleepers. Thank you so very much!
  23. We will be taking a private shuttle service from London to Southampton and would love to avoid the crowds. What time can you board in Southampton? The ship sails at 4:30 p.m.
  24. We were thinking of booking two of the new cabins 8443 and 8445 on Independence. Since they are close to the stairs and the elevator we were wondering if it's noisy. Are those cabins newer than the other inside cabins?
  25. Anyone got any info on time frame of Independence (coco-cay ) sailings , if they will continue all western or east also. We are on the 4-27-20 sailing and wouldn't mind picking up a back to back. Bob
