  1. The day after a cruise is always the hardest. I woke up this morning with nobody to greet me but my alarm clock :(. To make myself feel better, I thought I would start a review of our just completed 8 day Southern Caribbean adventure on the Carnival Magic. I like to do these reviews for a few reasons. First, it lets me put down (in writing) our memories, which I then will print and stick in our photobook. Second, I love reading other people's reviews and I hope that I can add something the CC community by providing my thoughts and recollections. You can have a look at my other review linked in my signature below. To start, we traveled as a party of 5. My wife, my son (B; age 8), my daughter (L; age 11), and my mother-in-law. We had two cabins on the Lido deck. Not next to each other, but just a few doors apart. We divided into a girls room and a boys room (for cost reasons). We love staying on Lido as it give us direct access to so many events and is not far from the water slides and the mini-golf, two of my kids favorite activities on board. This was our second time on the Magic for my wife, the kids, and I. It was also the first time on Carnival for my MIL. She has been a Princess/RCCL cruiser in the past. We flew down on Friday evening from Baltimore and stayed in Dania Beach at the Home2Suites. It was prefect for our needs, with extra space, free breakfast, and free parking. They offer a shuttle to the cruise port, but we rented a car from Alamo instead. We picked it up at the airport and dropped off at the Eller Drive facility the morning of the cruise. We got a little lost finding the drop of point, but after a course correction, we found the process to be easy and simple. It also gave us flexibility to explore on Friday, which included the Disney Character Warehouse at Sawgrass, dinner at a local Mexican restaurant, and ice cream at Jaxsons! I paid for FTTF for both rooms (booked about 2 months apart, as after I got it for the first room, it was sold out again). We arrived at Alamo about 10 am, dropped the car and got right on a shuttle. The Celebrity Equinox was also in port with us and we shared the shuttle with a family going on that ship. We were the first drop off and we were through the line and on the ship quickly, with only about a 5 minute wait in the waiting area before groups were boarded. I love FTTF because you get immediate access to your cabin, so we dropped off our stuff and started exploring an old friend. More in a bit, as I have to run to a meeting! dctravel
  2. Hi all! We are looking at booking a Cove Balcony on Carnival Magic. We have stayed in balcony cabins higher up but are wanting to try a cove this time around. The cabin we are looking at is 2365. I have heard some reviews about sewer smells in hallways of deck 2 and on certain balconies and also noise being heard from the galley with the cove balcony cabins. Was wondering if anyone that has stayed in this cabin or anywhere close can comment on your experience. Also was curious if this cabin has a lifeboat overhead? Thanks so much for any and all replies 🙂
  3. What is the Sushi setup on Magic? I believe it is not a permanent venue, but more like a pop-up Kiosk that they use in the evening? Is that correct? Is there a menu for the Kiosk? I read somewhere the sushi is free, only beverages are charged for. Is that accurate? Would seem odd to me the sushi not having a charge. Anyone that has been on Magic offer some comments on this?
  4. Cruising on the Carnival Magic next month, is there a sports bar on the ship? I've not been able to locate a sports bar on the deck plans, we 're hoping to watch some or any baseball playoff games onboard. Thanking any replies in advance
  5. It's been a long time since I've been awake to see a cruise ship arrive into port for her disembarkation/embarkation day. But we arrived in FLL yesterday and stayed at hotel overlooking Port Everglades. I have a slice of leftover pizza and a cup of made in room coffee in hand. The AC in the room is crisp and when I open door to the balcony my glasses instantly fog up. The Magic has been stationary outside port for an hour. Let's fire up this phones' highly regarded camera for a peek!
  6. Where is Muster Station a-5 on the Carnival Magic? Just checking if it is outside or in a theatre? thanks
  7. Just looking to find out were and what games they show on the Magic. Going this weekend. Is it just the FOX and CBS games or does the ship have the NFL network and can show any of the games? Thanks
  8. Hello, Can anyone tell me who the cruise director will be on the Carnival Magic in Jan of 2020? Also if anyone has recommendations for that ship that would be great!!
  9. Does anyone know what the current Movie line up on the Carnival Magic? Is there anywhere online that posts the information for Carnival? Im sailing in 4 weeks.
  10. Take the upgrade? Magic cove to balcony 11 or spa got an offer for an upgrade to mid ship on deck 11 for $44 or a spa for $175. Incredibly torn. Motion has been an issue for myself and one of my daughters so I prefer mid ship. Pros or cons? How much noise do you hear on deck 11? Currently our room is deck 2 cove under the dining room, midship. we had an extended balcony once forward on the legend and I swore never again forward, as the seas were rough and I felt sick. Help!
  11. Where is the deli on the Magic?
  12. Who is the Cruise director on the Magic right now?
  13. A question for those recently off the MAGIC. I' m Cruising on the MAGIC in October and have an 11::00 Flight home. I don't usually book before 1200 but it's a Sunday and I know the airport is close. If no emergencies and the ship is on time, what time does MAGIC dock and what time can Platinum self assist debark?
  14. Trying to decide between 4J interior with window on deck 10 or 6M deluxe ocean view on deck 1. 2 people and price is basically identical. Looking for what others may choose in this situation, suggestion?
  15. If you have done the Chefs Table on the Magic in the last while, would love to hear about your experience. Would also like to learn which day is was scheduled...port day? Sea day? Formal night?

Here are some areas where I may be helpful: Chef's Table Cloud 9 Spa Deck 12 balcony Circle C (13-14 year olds) O2 Club (15-17 year olds) Art Gallery/Auction Steakhouse Cucina del Capitano Italian Restaurant Snorkeling (Grand Turk, Aruba, Curacao)
  18. does anyone know if Half Moon Cay was hit by Dorian? Tried searching other boards and can't find anything. It is one of our stops.
  19. Does anyone know if the Carnival Magic tenders at any of these ports? It is an 8-day cruise Nov. 23rd, 2019 San Juan St. Kitts St. Maarten Grand Turk I believe they are all docked but had a person ask on another page and wanted to double check as we haven't been on the Magic before. Thanks!

  21. Hi Everyone. We are finally settled back into our normal routine after our week cruise on the Carnival Magic. We sailed March 31-April 7 with stops in Grand Cayman, Roatan, Belize, and Cozumel. We left from Miami. It was myself(Brooke), my husband Mike, and our 2 children Hayden (10) and Amelia (8). We are from Pittsburgh. We were meeting up with my husbands family members from Utah. They booked this cruise and my husband wanted to join them. We booked this cruise over the summer along with my mother and father in law, my husbands 2 sisters and their husbands, and their 8 kids. So 18 of us. Unfortunately my father in law passed away in October. We weren't sure if my mother in law would join us or not. She ended up bringing a friend along. We were happy that she decided to come. Spending time with family is so important. Spring break is not my favorite time to travel. The cost for this cruise and airfare is way more than I ever paid before so that was tough for me. I try to cruise less busy times. We didn't pick this cruise. My sister in law did since she had kids in high school and it was their break. So our kids missed a week of school. Sister in law picked the magic because it was similar to the breeze (which we had cruised on last family trip a few years ago). She knew her teens liked the water slides and ropes course. This would be their 2nd cruises. We have been on 8 cruises. Mainly on carnival but also NCL, Disney and few others. We have already done this exact itinerary. I was hoping to try some new islands but sister in law booked the cruise and the others followed. Husband still wanted to go so we also booked. I did a lot of research on these boards before the cruise to find new things for us to experience at the different stops. Hopefully this review will be helpful to others as I found so much helpful information here. More to follow...
  22. Anyone know who the current piano bar singer is on Magic?
  23. Does anyone happen to the have the funtimes for the Carnival Magic 6 day out of Fort Lauderdale with Simon as the cruise director, especially from the July 14th sailing since that is the exact itinerary we will be doing? I have already seen ones from May posted a couple weeks ago on a different website, but those were with a different cruise director and I know events/times/days change with new cruise directors. Thank you.
  24. A search does not reveal any specific posts for cabin 8201 on Magic (or sisters Dream and Breeze). This is the first forward Balcony next to the Bridge. Does anyone have any experience with this cabin? I am not expecting much privacy, but interested to know how much of the view will be impacted, and general noise levels. TIA!
  25. My husband and I are novice cruisers- one cruise last summer on the Allure of the Seas. We'd be cruising with 3 teens and a preteen, 2 rooms (unless we get a great deal on 3). Has to be certain dates so the ones that work as of now are: Legend out of Tampa- ports are Grand Cayman, Mahogany Bay, Belize, Cozumel Magic out of FL- half moon cay, grand turk, amber cove Glory out of NOLA- Montego Bay, Grand Cayman, Cozumel Prices are similar although the Magic is a day less. Ports are most important to my husband (and I know they can reroute us with no notice), ship is more important to me. Keep the kids in mind as well. Anyone have suggestions on which to do? I've read so many reviews my eyes are crossing. Pros/cons of any or all of these ships or ports? I know all of these will be a step down from Allure but also half the price (and no RC cruises fit our dates and are similar in price).
