  1. We will be on the Ruby in two weeks. We leave Seattle on Saturday and Sunday is a sea day. We get to Juneau at 11:00 AM on Monday morning. About what time on Sunday will we starting sailing in the Inside Passage?
  2. On embarkation day for our Alaska cruise, a family member will deliver us to Pier 91. Is there easy access to check-in? This is our maiden cruise. We are boobs at seagoing, so our questions are rather humble and basic. Thank you for replying!
  3. We're booked on Sea Princess 7/9/19 Dover to New York. Cost of everything onboard is more expensive due to being an Australian (AUD) based ship. We have US$ based OBC from onboard booking bonus and shareholder credits. Princess converts 1:1, a real ripoff. I've sought a solution by called and writing customer support and told there is nothing they can do. The response and hold times are ridiculously long and attitudes not customer friendly. Prior to this we've had 27 Princess cruises with positive Princess experiences. Has anyone else found a solution?
  4. Ok you long term cruisers - Please help me? I need to learn about the back to back experience. We have been cruising regularly for 15 years but we have never done a back to back trip. We are very excited to have just booked a B2B Down Under for 21 days total in 2020!! I was careful to book the same cabin for both cruises and I was wondering if we will have to settle our account and start fresh for the second cruise and will we have to go through the whole Embarkation again to get new key cards, photos etc? Tell me about "turn around day" all you long cruise lovers! Thanks from Alaska!
  5. We will be on Diamond Princess again this year. Our last port of call before Kobe is Busan, South Korea, then a sea day and then docking in Kobe. Last time we did Japan customs and passport control on board on the sea day before docking back in Japan. Will this still be the case or should we plan on a multi hour wait for customs after docking in Kobe??
  6. My fiance and I are scheduled for the Grand Princess on May 26th - we've only done Caribbean Cruises (and a Panama Canal cruise) before so we're not exactly sure what to expect with the sea days. I know part of the allure of Alaska is sailing the inside passage. I'm assuming that will kind of be like going through the canal - scenery on both sides. However, for the actual "sea days" between Tracy Arm Fjord and Victoria as well as the day before Ketchikan - does it look like a traditional sea day outside? Ocean as far as the eye can see? Just trying to plan for our relaxation days vs staying on deck for scenery. Thanks!
  7. We will be on the Coral in May for our land and sea tour of Alaska. We are doing the land portion first and then southbound through the glaciers. We fly to Fairbanks and spend a few days there, then bus to Denali. My understanding is we will have all of our luggage with us while in Fairbanks. The day we leave Fairbanks to bus to Denali, they will take our "Cruise luggage" and get it to the ship for us but we won't see it again until we board the ship. Our "Land luggage" will be transported to Denali on the bus with us but of course we won't have access to it. And we can only bring a small carry-on on the bus. Same on the train to Whittier. Am I understanding this correctly? Thanks for the help!! Getting so excited!!!
  8. Last month did something I thought I would never do....a cruise with 4 and then 5 sea Days in a row. Am a Port Person, have professed it several times on these boards. Felt sea days wasted time that could be spent ashore. Just like I was an Aft'r, no cabin but on the stern. But one needs to shake it up once in awhile..so for the last couple of years, cabins all around the ship for us.... and cruises with 2 sea days in a row, then 3.......but NO more than 3, that was my limit! And last month I did something I thought I would never do book..... a 15 day Hawaiian cruise out of San Pedro. We live in So CA so it's a 5 hour flight to Hawaii so why on earth would I take a cruise, with 9 sea days? This was a last minute booking so I didn't have to think about the sea days, we just went. And now I get it.....Sea days can be relaxing ...finally I SEA the light...... So this old SEA dog can learn new tricks.... But still on the fence about doing a TA......😉 Happy Cruising.... Lri
  9. We have the PBP on an upcoming Australian Cruise on Sea Princess. The terms and conditions page on Princess' web site says that among the included beverages are "milkshakes (when available)." Does anybody know what that really means for an Australian cruise on Sea Princess?? I think Ice Cream is an extra charge but can they make milkshakes?? If so, any idea of what the charge is? If you tried them, did you think they were good? None of this is a deal breaker , just trying to manage DH's expectations Greg
  10. Hi, I was just wondering if the balcony cabin R306 is covered or open? Ta snag
  11. Does anyone have experience doing the land and tour cruise of Italy, Montenegro and Greece with Princess? We've booked for our honeymoon September 2019 and would love to hear your experiences - good and bad. 1 week land stay in Italy before boarding for 1 week cruise departing from Rome, ending in Athens. Would love to know about hotels, size of tour groups, quality of excursions, etc. TIA!
  12. Floridian Ilene Weiner Shares Her Favorite Cruise Destinations, Memories and Travel Tips I don’t recall ever having sailed with her & obviously she greatly enjoys cruising. 😊 http://phoenix.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?c=140690&p=irol-newsArticle&ID=2390365
  13. Did anyone else hear about the Regal Princess rescuing two men when it was enroute to Saint Thomas.? It was on ABC news with David Muir.
  14. We noticed there are only corner aft-facing club mini-suite cabins on the Sea and Sun. With regards to this specific style of mini-suites, we would very much like to hear from those that have booked one before and how was your experience? The better itineraries appear to get booked very fast, so we need to know if we need to be "on our game" when their new itineraries get posted or is it pretty much a non-starter until we at least make Elite and get those early new itinerary notices? Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated.
  15. Plans were changed on Sea Princess departure from Cairns, Australia yesterday due to cyclone Oma off Brisbane where she was due on 24th Feb. She departed to sea to dump black water outside GBR & returned AM today for those passengers wanting to leave cruise & make own way south by air. It's going to be a rough trip. She will depart again at 13:00 today 22nd for Brisbane - ETA PM 26th. The cat. 1-2 Oma will hopefully have moved away from southern Queensland or disipated by 26th. Two other Carnival Corp. ships are also delaying arrival into Brisbane this weekend. Pacific Dawn is extending cruise in New Caledonia & has cancelled 3 day comedy cruise from Brisbane 23rd. Now due 26th. Arcadia on world cruise due Brisbane 23rd is waiting in Sydney & will be arriving next week.
  16. This is my first time cruising with Princess since they put in Princess@Sea but I used it’s equivalent on HAL last year. This cruise I am running the roll call for the Meet and Greet and the slot tournament plus possibly some other CC activities like shore excursions. Is there any way to set up a group so I can send a reminder message or do I have to send it person by person? What information do I need from our group members (last name?, cabin number?) to message them?
  17. Also posted this under the Alaska Port forum... We're sailing 7 day, Coral Princess, SB Whittier to Vancouver in June. The last full day is a Sea Day. We have massages in the Lotus Spa scheduled for the late afternoon. Any suggestions on what else we should do to enjoy the morning time and after lunch? I know this can be very dependent on individual preferences. Those of you who have done this cruise before, did you find that you had already sufficiently explored the ship by this time? We plan to spend port days off the ship, so the only other times on the ship before this will be evenings, which will be taken up with dinner and shows. I did find a Patter from 2018. It looks like they don't plan much program wise. Thanks for your insights!
  18. We will be sailing on the Sea Princess next month out of Brisbane. We’ve sailed on 8 different Princess ships and until sailing on the Majestic last year our favorite ship had been the Emerald. This will be our first time on the Sea so I thought I’d ask those who’ve sailed on her what you most liked or disliked about the ship. Also, where are the best places to sit and view the sea/coast if you don’t have a balcony? Where’s a good place to sip a coffee? Get away and have a drink in the quiet? People watch? thanks, Chris
  19. just tried two of the new drinks at the international cafe bar. The Good Spirits at Sea menu has about 12 new cocktails priced within the drinks pkg and all look very interesting. The mixologists are only there twice in the evenings so check the patters for times. It will be rolled out to other ships later so if you are on the Caribbean you are in for a unique treat.
  20. I am reading the info on the Princess website and this sounds great. Just to clarify: Does this mean to use this to text traveling companions on the ship, I do not have to buy a Princess internet package to connect to their wifi for this service? https://www.princess.com/ships-and-experience/onboard-experience/activities/princess-at-sea/index.html
  21. We’re sailing out of San Francisco on the Grand Princess Feb. 11th to Mexico. We live nearby and realize it will probably be cold and windy sailing under the Golden Gate. My question is what are the remaining sea days like along the CA coast on the way to Mexico? I’m trying to pack light but I don’t like being cold and don’t want to be caught off guard. Any of you that have done this cruise have any recommendations?
  22. A little about us--DH and I have traveled quite extensive throughout the US and Europe, but only began cruising about 7 years ago. Since then we have taken several cruises with Princess and with Regent cruise lines. I am a highly organized trip planner who mostly plans private excursions in small groups. My intention with the review is to pay back CC members whose reviews and comments have been invaluable to planning our trips. One in particular from caribill on this site is a few years old, but much of that info is still current. I hope to bring everyone up to date a bit and will happily answer any questions I can. We are mostly DIY-ers. However, this tour came recommended to us by friends, and in reading about it, we were sold. We chose the longest (most expensive as well) land and sea tour Princess offered. We chose Princess because we wanted to experience their lodges and because Princess has been doing this in Alaska for a long time. This was a 15 day trip: 8 days on land and 7 days at sea. Day #1: Fairbanks June 19, 2018 We used Princess EZ Air (and carefully watched the flights DAILY as they changed times over the course of several months, and that had to be taken care of with calls to Princess and Delta.) We arrived at the Fairbanks airport and were met by Princess reps. This was one of the unanswered questions I still had not been able to find an answer for before we left. Out tour package clearly stated and in capital letters TRANSPORT to hotel from airport. Yet our invoice from our TA indicated a charge for transfers. Two calls to Princess by her and one by me resulted in being told there were no transfers included. Then why does the itinerary clearly state this? No answer for that one. I had the TA remove the charges. Plan A was we'd be met by Princess reps and be taken by coach to the hotel. Plan B was that the Fairbanks hotel has a shuttle (as noted on their website) Plan C was to simply take a taxi the 1.5 miles to the hotel. Plan A worked out. The reps gave us a packet with everything we needed to know for that night and the next day. We were already checked into the hotel. Room keys were in the packet. Info in the packet further explained we would be meeting the next morning for breakfast and that we had this first evening free to wander the property on the Chena River. We had a comfortable room facing the river, and since it was June 19, there was nearly constant daylight. The drapes in the room do the best they can to keep out the light, but there is still an element of light always in the room. Couple that with jet lag and excitement for the trip, and it was near impossible to sleep. We found that on the Connoisseur Tour we were allotted the premium rooms with the best views. A nice perk.
  23. Does anyone know if the Sun Princess has "Princess at Sea Messenger" available? Cruising with friends next month and need to keep in touch.
  24. It has been a while since we sailed on Princess but we have booked Sapphire Princess for April this year. What types activities can we expect on sea days ? We are elite so we know that we can go to the wine tasting ( if it still takes place ? ). In the past I have gone to various craft sessions, do they still do these ? Thanks for any info.
  25. Hi there, I'm curious if anyone has used The Sanctuary whilst on the Sea Princess? What actually is included / is there much shade (red hair, freckly gal here) / where do you have to make your reservations, etc... Any information and reviews specific only to the Sea would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Vickie.
