  1. Will be doing our first back to back cruise on Royal. How do they handle? Does everyone gather and go off and back on the ship at once? Is there a reception for those doing back to back?
  2. Anyone know much about the ship Rhapsody? We booked 2 side by side one bedroom grand suites (they were actually less than the junior suites at the time of booking and sold out soon after). The 2 suites are not connecting though, which is fine. I'm wondering if the dividers between the balconies on the Rhapsody can be opened by the steward on request. Also, looking for any and all information in regards to pre-cruise and post-cruise stays, including hotel and activity ideas in Venice and Barcelona. First time for the 4 of us in Europe 🤩 Hoping to spend 2 nights in each city before and after cruise. All information greatly appreciated!
  3. Its the only one i'm missing from my collection but none every seem to appear on ebay. Anyone know where I might be able to buy one. I'm in the UK. Thanks
  4. Hi, you oh so helpful Cruise Critic members. Cabins 2094 and 2594 seem to face a wall, NOT the entrance to the elevator/stairs lobby. Am I correct? I know there's a wonderful compilation of cabin info, but I tried using it and got a bit lost. I even found a source for photos, but didn't know how to find what I'm looking for there, either. --May B
  5. I have never been on a ship that old - to say it looked every day of its 22 years is an understatement The layout is brilliant - It would be great to see a new smaller ship with a similar design, but good grief this was as tired as any 2 star hotel I have ever stayed in I know RCI own Pullmantur and Tui, but surely this would be too awful to palm off on them
  6. It's been awhile since I've been on a RC cruise. I recall they had an ATM machine but I didn't use it. Since we will be on the Rhapsody (in Europe), will the ATM give out Euros? What is the fee for using it? How's the exchange rate onboard? TIA! Pam
  7. Hello everyone, Just finished 3 weeks on Rhapsody, happy to answer any questions.
  8. Anyone been on the Rhapsody recently for the Italy/Greek Island cruise? Going in a few weeks and I would love to hear your thoughts about the ship and the ports.... Thanks in advance, Pam
  9. I went in to my cruise planner today and was pleasantly surprised to find the beverage package priced at $45.00 per person. Lowest had been $47.00, highest had been $61.00. We are on the Rhapsody on the November 23, 2019 sailing. Hope others can save some money today as well!
  10. Hi - We're travelling on Rhapsody next year and I have found conflicting info about the suite perks. Iome of the information I've found suggests that things are available but then I've read some reviews that indicated they weren't, so any help anyone can give me would be great! 1) Do we get priority boarding? 2) Is there a concierge lounge? 3) Is there a special area for breakfast? And not related to suite perks, but i'm rather fond a piano bar on a cruise - is there a good piano bar on Rhapsody? Thanks!
  11. Does anyone know what the plans are for Rhapsody's two week Dry-dock in Europe at the end of October 2019? It appears to be a two week Dry dock. I have not seen any announcements from Royal on the planned changes/Updates. Thanks in Advance! Trey
  12. Can anyone tell me if there is anything special that goes on over Thanksgiving cruise?
  13. Hi, Just wondering what time you can disembark the 6:45am arrival cruise shiip. Its the rhapsody of the seas. I have a flight booked for 12:30pm, and wondering If i will have time, and the quickest way to get to airport. Thanks
  14. My husband and I were just on an Anthem cruise out of Barcelona and when we were ordering drinks (we did not have the drink package), on top of the 18% gratuities they always add, there was an additional 15% tax. In a couple months I will be going on Rhapsody out of Venice and am curious if anyone knows if an additional tax applies if you are buying drinks on that particular cruise (Greek isles)? If such a tax does exist for this cruise, is it already in the amount if I were to buy the drink package or would I be charged that tax every single time I get a drink? Thanks so much
  15. We will be sailing in the Oceanview Suite on Rhapsody (cabin 8000). While I have been told this class of cabin receives Grand Suite status with the suite perks, I cannot find a definitive answer as to whether Voom internet is included as a perk. I know it was when we sailed on Allure, but oasis class ships have their own suite categories, vs. vison class that basically only have junior suite and grand suite levels. Has anyone sailed Rhapsody or another vision class ship that could help?
  16. We are under 1 year from our cruise and noticed we are showing ocean view accessible guarantee but no number for cabin allocated. surprised at this how likely is this correct or will it change any info thanks
  17. Has anyone stayed in stateroom 8000 on Rhapsody since the recategorization in May 2018. It’s now VO Ocean View Suite. I’m guessing they will consider in a junior suite, but at 2 bed and 2 bath I can’t seem to confirm that, especially after the May changes.
  18. When booking a room on the RCCL website, under the description of the FO category today, under bathrooms, it states two bathrooms, one with bathtub. I was thrilled to see this bonus (TWO bathrooms and a TUB??? PERFECT for multiple women sharing a cabin! :D), and I booked one of these rooms for myself and some friends, primarily due to the dual bathroom setup. I've looked online to see photos, videos, etc. for one of these cabins to see how the cabin is going to be laid out, and I cannot find anything that shows the layout of these rooms. Does anyone have photos, or can someone direct me to someplace online that shows the layout of one of these rooms? Thanks in advance.
  19. We've sailed only the larger/newer ships and now are hoping to venture out on Rhapsody for an itinerary out of Venice. I have read just about all I could find about this type of sailing but still have a few questions. Would appreciate any guidance! Trying to decide between Grand Suite 2 BR and 2 Junior Suites (aft). We have never had an aft balcony so it would be a first, though this would not be one of the coveted corners (but the huge balconies in regular aft cabins seem nice!). Any thoughts on extra movement/vibration in those? (We've always been midship -- though the Adriatic seems generally pretty calm, right?) We also have never been in a real suite (just juniors). The GS-2BRs are midship, and we would not get one on Deck 8 (because of potential pool noise overhead). I've read the second bedroom is tiny in these suites. Not a huge deal because of the living room area, but does anyone know about that second bathroom? Is the shower the same as in the regular cabins? Regarding suite perks, because this is port-intensive, I'd think priority tenders would be helpful but not sure. We know nothing about suite lounges (concierge lounges?) and timings of happy hours, so would love any info re those. (All I've heard is that they get crowded.) Are there hors d'oeuvres offered during those hours? Separately (but kinda related), with such a port-intensive sailing, does later dining seem the way to go? (If so, those snacks would come in handy.) We've typically ended up with My Time Dining in the end -- and likely will be eating at a few specialty restaurants -- but since we have options right now, just want to know what to go ahead and reserve. Finally ... silly question, but is there something like Sorrento's on board? Those late-night piping-hot pizza slices were nice to have on our recent Anthem trip! TIA
  20. We are thinking about going on Rhapsody of the Seas November 23rd on a itinerary out of Tampa. Two in our party have never been on a ship this size. They have sailed on Adventure of the Seas or a bigger ship (Allure) on an Eastern Cruise or Southern Cruise. They tend to get very mild motion sickness in that they may not feel good one evening and need to take it easy and possibly take some medication. Does Rhapsody of the seas have more motion due to its smaller size? Would sailing in the Gulf of Mexico tend to make a difference? (Smoother) Thanks so much, Linda
  21. Looking at possibly doing the Greek Isles fall of 2020...looking for opinions on Rhapsody vs. Explorer for this. We were on Rhapsody for an Alaskan cruise in 2015 and at that time, she needed some TLC which I believe she got some of in 2016, but see Explorer is getting a refurbishment in March/April 2020.....I cannot find anything on any kind of "refresher" for Rhapsody coming up. Looking for opinions regarding the ships in regards to sailing the Greek Isles from anyone who has actually sailed on them over there. We are in Florida, so the Caribbean is our usual sailing grounds, so thanks for your opinions about the Greek Isles area and the ships! Thanks!
  22. Good afternoon all. I just booked Rhapsody of the Seas for next October. I picked 7076 I hope this is a good choice. Any insight would be appreciated. However, my question is there are a few cabins mid ship on deck 7 and 8 that look like they should be balconies but doesn't look like they actually have a balcony and when I look at the outside of the ship it also doesn't look like a balcony. Can someone offer me some info on this please. Thank you!!!! Kim
  23. Hello, I will be going on this ship. I would like to learn more about the ship from fellow cruisers who have been on her. How is the food and entertainment? Rock climbing wall?
  24. I want to get the soda package but was wondering if the Rhapsody OS has freestyle soda machine onboard and where it(they) are located? Wanted more than COKE in the MDR so I would bring my cup of Soda into the MDR. Thanks for any info.
  25. The review I wrote about our April/May Rhapsody cruise has just been "published" in the Cruise Critic Review section. I avidly read all the Rhapsody reviews in anticipation of our cruise, so I felt like I should add my impressions for others who want to know what to expect, or compare my opinions with theirs.
