DCT61 Posted March 17, 2012 #1 Share Posted March 17, 2012 On our recent GRAND PRINCESS cruise we booked a window suite. Since there wasnt much info on these rooms, I decided to create a plan with some details. Hope its helpful. Rare Coral Posted March 17, 2012 #4 Share Posted March 17, 2012 (edited) Something tells me you don't do anything 1/2 way. Very impressive! I am guessing architect also! We should probably pay you to stay in other rooms and document them accordingly :) Edited March 17, 2012 by Coral
Cruisers from WA Posted March 17, 2012 #5 Share Posted March 17, 2012 Architect or Interior Designer....I recall the details and drawings, being a designer, way back when!!

nightster Posted March 17, 2012 #7 Share Posted March 17, 2012 Just as an addition, adjacent rooms may be a mirror image of this layout. We stayed in F309 on the Grand and that is a mirror image.
DCT61 Posted March 17, 2012 Author #8 Share Posted March 17, 2012 Correct...Architectural designer. The idea of being payed to document other rooms is compelling,,,LOL
pj-atsea Posted March 17, 2012 #9 Share Posted March 17, 2012 Thank you so much for doing that. I have booked a Window Suite on an upcoming cruise and your floor plan really helps put the room into perspective.pj:)
candide333 Posted March 29, 2012 #10 Share Posted March 29, 2012 Thank you so much for the plan. We are staying in F301, the smaller cabin, on our first Transatlantic on 11/3/2012 on the Grand and wondered if you were aware of smoke from the cigar bar? We usually bok a mini suite so this will be our first chance to experience suite perks.

yyzatcqq Posted March 29, 2012 #12 Share Posted March 29, 2012 That looks amazing and is spot on for F303 through F311 (although possibly mirrored as mentioned earlier). F301 is significantly smaller and is missing the desk/counter along the windows. F315 is the ADA cabin and is slightly larger with a different layout as well. Rare JimmyVWine Posted March 29, 2012 #13 Share Posted March 29, 2012 Great job! You have done Princess a valuable service. I have seen so many posts on these boards from people threatening to cancel their cruise if the got "upgraded" to a WS. But after viewing the detailed schematic, it is hard to imagine why anyone would not want that amount of space for the price of a mini. I can certainly see the attraction of a balcony for certain itineraries. But on colder, windier, mistier, rainier itneraries, I would think that a WS would be terrific, now that I can see the layout in detail.
Caribensun Posted March 29, 2012 #14 Share Posted March 29, 2012 Thanks for doing this, did you or anyone who has cruised in a WS noticed noise from walkers/runners on promenade deck above? Viewed the WS suites on the Grand and very impressed! We did not smell any smoke in the hallway from the casino and it was in the atrium.
Cruisin' Chick Posted March 30, 2012 #15 Share Posted March 30, 2012 When we had booked our December 2010 cruise, it was just weeks before the cruise and only obstructed OVs and WSs were available on that day. We booked an OV (that turned out not to be so obstructed), but was curious why the WSs were about 2.5 times as much, even without a balcony. We were looking at the deck plan and noticed that they were near the cigar lounge. While we were wandering about the Golden, we happened by that area and the smell from the cigar lounge was very strong out in the hallway by the suites. And that was before the new smoking area rules. I have to believe that the smell is even more pronounced now. So even if the casino isn't on the same deck, if you don't care for the smell of tobacco, you might want to skip these cabins.
DCT61 Posted March 30, 2012 Author #16 Share Posted March 30, 2012 (edited) Thanks for the comments... We did not smell any smoke at all in the corridor outside our room. To be honest, I didnt know there was a cigar bar anywhere close until I read it here. We could hear the sounds of the slot machines (from the casino on the other side of the wall) in the corridor, but that ceased when we were in the room. As for the sounds of joggers overhead on the promenade deck, YES. You could definately hear them. Im a fairly light sleeper, and one morning around 6:00 am I was awakened by the sound. I called guest services to see if there was anything they could do about it. The lady at the desk informed me that there was to be no running before 8:00 am (I THINK this was the time...) and that she would send someone out to stop it. It was quiet after that. We did have to call one more time in the week, and again she sent someone up. At the end of the week, we received a letter offering us a (small but welcome) credit on our cabin for our "troubles" We never solicited this...but it was welcomed and appreciated. We did notice a sign posted on the promenade deck in the area over the window suites, asking joggers to refrain from using the deck at certain hours. Perhaps in the future, to avoid any other problems, a barricade or rope should be installed. Edited March 30, 2012 by DCT61

aikensbest Posted March 30, 2012 #18 Share Posted March 30, 2012 We enjoyed cabin F309 last Nov. and like you found it wonderful. We had NO smoke odor, the perks for a suite are tremendous, and I would book it again if returning to Hawaii. I love a balcony, but considering the cold rough seas going and returning with no opportunity for balcony lovers to use the balcony, this was the best of both worlds. Your drawing of the cabin is perfect, and beyond the visual, is the total space allotted to storage , the very large bathroom and the daily flowers and room service. RebelSoul Posted March 30, 2012 #19 Share Posted March 30, 2012 Wow...amazing that you took the time to do this and share it. We are booked in a WS guarantee at the end of April, but we have not gotten a cabin assignment yet. I think we will be very happy as these WS suites are just as nice as the VS or PS suites we have been in, just no balcony. We figure we'll just book the Sanctuary instead. Thank you very much! cruisedreamer17 Posted March 31, 2012 #20 Share Posted March 31, 2012 We have a WS on the Caribbean Princess for the July 1 sailing. Thought it was a great size room since there will be 3 of us. Also like the idea of having all of the suite amenities. Laurie

DCT61 Posted March 31, 2012 Author #22 Share Posted March 31, 2012 I'm sure you'll enjoy it. if you need any additional electrical outlets (the suite doesn't have many at all...just on the desk) you can always unplug the DVD player from behind the tv and use that plug

SwissDave Posted April 8, 2012 #24 Share Posted April 8, 2012 Does anyone know if there is a European style socket behind the bed which in other suites has a lamp plugged in?
DLSHS_Mom Posted April 8, 2012 #25 Share Posted April 8, 2012 We are all settled in the room for 14 days. Love the location and do not smell smoke. The hall doors have been kept shut. Lots of drawers and closet space J we have several drawers and one closet empty!! Amazing since my husband thought I packed everything but the kitchen sink!! We like the drawers in the bathroom cabinet. We wish other suite bathrooms had this feature….everything is nice and neat. We did unplug the DVD player to gain another outlet….thanks for that tip. Swiss Dave – three outlets along the headboard wall to pick from and one on the desk.
