Key West After Hurricane Irma

How has Key West gotten rebuilt after the hurricane? We just saw a town in Florida on the news that was still under water w/ little repair.

Will it be up and running by November, or will we find a lot of closed stores/buisnesses?

You couldn't tell a hurricane hit anywhere near Key West a few weeks after the hurricane. If you are visiting on a cruise, you would never know, especially now. It's totally normal and has been for quite a long time. I stayed several nights in Key West in January. Completely normal.

Key West is perfectly fine. Other than some streets not having as much tree coverage, you would never know that a storm had gone through there at all. I've been down there twice in the last few months and it looks fantastic. Heading back down Friday for the night!

There are still some towns in the middle keys where you will still see damage, tarps and believe it or not destroyed mobile homes still lining the side of the road. Some hotels are still not open in the middle keys, Mariner's Hospital won't be rebuilt for some time and is still operating out of trailers in the parking lot.

And the campers/travel trailers along the side of the road were removed last month.

that's good to know!

I like that someone had put a for rent sign on one of them!
