Star NB Alaska boarding time

We will be flying into Vancouver BC this Friday and staying at a hotel 2 blocks from the pier. We like to board as early as possible to kick start the fun.

We don’t have any early boarding perks so when is a good time to be at the pier?

There is currently a Star SB thread here concerning muster time. Does anyone know off the top of their head when we can expect muster on the NB Star?

Thanks in advance

Agree that 1030 should be a good time. If you have never departed out of Vancouver, it is a little different than some of the other ports. The crowds vary with the number of ships in port, but you are lucky that only the Star and Nieuw Amsterdam are there on the 21st.

After dropping off your bags with the porters everyone (passsengers for all ships) go through Canadian Security (think airport TSA), and then through US Customs and Immigration. Only after that do you proceed to cruise line check in. The bottle line is really US Customs, unless you have Global Entry. I believe you can sort of jump the line at Security if you have a NEXUS card. When we went through in May there was absolutely no line at Princess.

Retired Army’s post was exactly our experience. We never stopped moving from getting out of our Uber to opening the cabin door. We got to Canada Place about 1130. Opened our cabin door before 1230,with luggage already waiting!

There is a lot of walking involved ... we definitely got our steps in. Even Canadian customs moved smartly and Global Entry let us go almost to the TSA agent, I think we waited for 3 wheelchaired people (commingled disabled and GE line).

I thought this went much more swiftly than Port of Miami, our only other North American departure port to compare with.
