Glad that you liked the photos and wishing you a wonderful visit to Bermuda. That time frame was when we visited Bermuda for the very first time.

I am not sure about the beach. It is either near St. George's or St. Catherine.

The sandy beach is Tobacco Bay Beach, but nothing when compared to Horseshoe Bay Beach, IMHO.

Ahhh that explains it! It would have been a quick rehab otherwise. If you do a google search, there are some videos of the fire.

Actually the rehab has been quick. There were able to reopen the lower floor right away. According to a recent article I read last month in the Royal Gazette the rehab should be completed by now. The article includes photos.

Like yourself we first visited Bermuda some 40 years ago and stayed at the (now abandoned?) Sonesta. Hoping to cruise there in 2020.

Like yourself we first visited Bermuda some 40 years ago and stayed at the (now abandoned?) Sonesta. Hoping to cruise there in 2020.

Ken our first visit was 41 years ago for our honeymoon and also stayed at the Sonesta Beach Hotel. Loved it. We returned about 18 years later and showed the property to our children. Unfortunately they had the bad hurricane and eventually the hotel went out of business.
