Los Angeles - what to do before flight

Hello. We are sailing out of LA in January and on our return to LA we have 12 hours before our flight out of LAX. Any recommendations on what we can do bearing in mind we will have our luggage to deal with? It will be a Saturday if that makes any difference.

Have you checked your cruise line for excursions, they will hold your luggage on the bus and drop you off at LAX. OR.

The Starline Hop-On, Hop Off tour has four routes and two connectors, one of which stops at the Concourse Hotel next to LAX. If you have four hours or more during the day, you can hop on and off up to Marina del Rey, Venice and Santa Monica. If you have all day, you can take an additional loop over to Hollywood. Each of the narrated tour loops takes about 2 hours if you don't get off. The down side is that the tours end at 6 pm. However, if you have all day into the evening, you can loop out to the farther tours first, then end in Marina Del Rey for dinner so you'll be closer to the airport to grab a taxi back for your flight.

Can you drop off / store your luggage at LAX during that time? (I did something similar at the Newark airport, but I've never tried it at LAX.)

If you can do that, it really opens up your options. Hit Tripadvisor and figure out which options appeal to you most.

If you are stuck with the luggage, you can try to stay a night in LA. This way you can drop luggage at the hotel and get the better part of two days in LA for one night in a hotel

We cruised out of Long Beach in 2014, and had a similar wait time before our flight home. We booked a day tour with Sunseeker, and it was the best day ever! We were picked up in the morning at the port, and the van had lots of room for luggage in the back. We toured around Los Angeles, saw the Hollywood sign, drove by several homes of celebrities in Beverly Hills, had lunch at Mel's Diner, saw Venice Beach, spent some time on Hollywood Blvd, etc. Later, our driver dropped us off at the airport.

I'd get a rental car & stow the luggage in the trunk. Then you have some freedom.

You could visit the Queen Mary in Long Beach. Knotts Berry farm may be an option. I would not try to squeeze in Disney.
