Lots of great tours available from private tour operators. We used Alla Tour in St Petersburg and they also offered tours in other ports.

Yes, it is port intensive with very long tours. Our Berlin tour was > 12 hrs.

Make sure the camera batteries are charged and you have spare memory cards - you'll need them. Also bring comfortable walking shoes, as we walked for miles.

Enjoy the Baltic

Lucky you, the Baltics make a great cruise!

Temperatures can vary considerably, so make sure you have clothing you can layer. This includes a waterproof.

As has been said, these cruises are very port intensive and can be tiring - especially as you can be several hours in front of GMT by the time you get to St Petes!

We checked the BBC weather forecast for various ports before we left on our Baltic cruise in May then repacked as we had originally packed too much warm clothing, perhaps just lucky with the weather.

Enjoy your cruise

The Baltic cruises are wonderful! Weather can be unpredictable - ensure that you have some layers. It is often quite cool in the early morning but warms up considerably by mid morning.

Be prepared for walking - wear comfortable shoes (especially for the cobblestone streets).

Hope you have a great cruise!
