The most important alcohol question!

I know we can take 1 bottle each on the cruise (MSC Opera from marseille). But what about bringing in wine form other ports each time we travel? Is that allowed? Will bags be checked each time when we enter the cruise

Best to ask this on the dedicated MSC forum here: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=80

Specific to MSC I can't say, and as Bob suggested, this would best be answered at the link he provided. But in general I can say that with most cruise lines that allow wine to be brought on board it is at original embarkation only and you will go through a security check similar to original embarkation at each port of call when re-boarding the ship.

We cruised on MSC Divina in the Caribbean last Spring. You can buy alcohol wherever you want. You MIGHT be able to sneak it through the checkpoint (if that’s what you’re asking). During peak times where there’s a ton of people getting back on the ship, they tend to not pay as much attention and rush through bag checks. We’ve accidentally brought back bottles that could’ve easily been booze.

That's a good point and a different answer to the question than most of us have provided - and maybe the one the OP is looking for. And just to confirm this statement, yes, you can bring alcohol on board at any port of call, but not necessarily to take back to your stateroom for consumption on board. It would be generally considered a gift or souvenir from that port intended to be taken home with you.

As a result, alcohol purchased in ports of call - unless missed by security - likely will be taken and held for you until the last night of the cruise and then returned to your stateroom. This is the policy with most mass market cruise lines.

Just returned from a fourteen day Royal Caribbean Independence Of The Seas from Southampton, England on Saturday. We purchased five bottles of wine from three different port stops. Two bottles made it back to our stateroom from our first port stop in Vigo, Spain and the other three bottles were confiscated by ship employees at port stops in Lisbon, Portugal and La Palma, Canary Islands, Spain. The three bottles were returned on our last sea day while enroute back to Southampton. We had absolutely no problem purchasing bottles of water and soda at the various ports and returning them to our cabin. We also purchased extra shampoo, conditioner, etc in Lanzarote, Canary Islands, Spain that we were able to take back to our stateroom. Royal Caribbean and the other cruise companies want you to purchase alcohol, beer, and wine from them. Cruise companies make most of their money from alcohol, shore excursions, specially restaurants, merchandise, and spa treatments. They are always trying to boost the bottom line.

While valid information regarding your experience bringing wine on with RCI, not really helpful with the OP's question which was specific to MSC. Different cruise lines handle this differently.
