Can anyone tell me if you can use your On Board Credits in the Casino on Celebrity Solstice. These credits were credited to us when we booked and paid for our cruise.

If so what is the procedure?

I asked Celebrity and they told me you can only use your purchased OBC ( incurs a 5% transaction fee) not promotional OBC, which I presume are what we have. This seems to contradict other info. I have previoulsy read on Cruise Critic.

Also what are purchased OBC, as we are first time cruisers not sure re the terminology.

Purchased OBC is when you or someone else like a friend or (perhaps) your travel agent pay in advance to have a credit in your account upon boarding.

Promotional OBC is that provided by the line, either as part of a fare promotion or as a benefit for being a shareholder (e.g. CCL stock on any Carnival-owned line) or military/veteran (not as common).

On many (most? all?) lines purchased OBC is refunded if not used but not promotional OBC. Because of this, promotional OBC can't be used in the casino like purchased OBC.
