DC Traveler244 Posted September 14, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 14, 2018 My husband and I will be disembarking from the Ovation in Hong Kong in January. Post-cruise, we plan on spending some time in HK and two days in Macau. Our primary interest in Macau is the historic area, not the casinos. This will be our first visit to Macau, and we're trying to identify well located hotel possibilities that aren't too casino-focused (if such places still exist in Macau ...). We're currently looking at the St. Regis, Mandarin Oriental, Altira, and Pousada de Sao Tiago. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
tv24 Posted September 15, 2018 #2 Share Posted September 15, 2018 We had 3 great nights in Macau with the same travel objective. We were determined to find the remnants of Portuguese colonial history. And we succeeded! It was fascinating, although a bit daunting in face of the overwhelming gambling economy. We stayed at the Sofitel Point 16 which was well-located for everything. No charm, but I'm not sure there is a charming hotel in Macau.
