Split to Brac

We will be visiting Split in mid-April via NCL Spirit. We will be in port from 8-4. We are intrigued by the idea of trying to visit Brac. Do you think this is feasible? How reliable are the ferries? And would we need to rent a car/scooter if we do get to Brac?
