Deck - Sky

Cabin # - 1204

Class – Conceirge Class

Starboard or Port Side - Aft

Bed near?(balcony or bath) – Bath

Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – Quiet. Verandas are connecting.

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – No obstruction unless looking down, then you can see all the balconies below you and the blue panel below.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - smallest of the aft balconies

Was wind a problem? No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? Yes. I used our used towels every morning to wipe down the chairs.

Any specific problems with this cabin? There's no shade and depending on the ship's direction, we had to keep our cabin curtains closed because of the sun. The sun shining in made the cabin really warm.

Any other comments? I love sitting out on the veranda and watching the wake but had to limit my time because of the sun. Also, we left our cabin doors open one night and it rained. The carpet in front of the door was damp.

We did like our cabin, but if you book one on the aft, be ready to walk a lot. There are no aft elevators.

Deck - 7--Sunrise

Cabin # - 7183

Class – Deluxe Veranda 2B

Starboard or Port Side - Port

Bed near?(balcony or bath) –bed near bath

Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – connecting cabin, mid ship, very quiet, never heard our neighbors

Balcony View -– you could see the life boats below, but this did not bother us, the view looking out was great.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - normal

Was wind a problem? no

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? n/a

Any specific problems with this cabin? none

Any other comments? Great location, close to front and rear elevators, so we never had to walk far. Very quiet and felt little to no movement of the ship (although this was a very smooth sailing) We even booked this room again for our next cruise on the Equinox

Deck - 10

Cabin # - 1059

Class – CC2

Starboard or Port Side - Port

Bed near?(balcony or bath) –Bath

Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – Non connecting - very quiet.

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – No obstructions. It's in the front, so no lifeboats below, either.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal with 2 chairs and footstools.

Was wind a problem? It was very windy during our cruise (12/14/08), but the only time it became evident was if you had the balcony and stateroom door open (or not closed all the way) at the same time. It made for quite a wind tunnel!

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? No.

Any other comments? This is a 4 person room with the trundle. When you have it out, it is impossible to get to the balcony without stepping on the bed. They need to get rid of this configuration and just have the pull down bed instead. It makes the room too small and going to and from the balcony quite a chore. Someone is going to seriously hurt themselves.

Deck - 7

Cabin # 7241

Class – 1A

Port Side -

Bed near balcony – Has both trundle bed and pullman

Quiet Cabin: Yes. Not connecting to our "pair" and only noise was when they opened/closed their door.

Balcony View - Great, no obstructions

Balcony Size - Largest of the larger balconies. 100 sq. ft. (14 ft on right side, 11 on left, verandas 8 ft wide). Its "pair" balcony (#7243) is about 78 sq. ft.

Was wind a problem? No, aft of hump and protected.

Any other comments? We had one teen with and she chose to sleep on pullman. When trundle is out, it is inches away from fridge and drawers (can't open). Can't get to balcony. Top of sofa is very hard, and once you have four in a room, you will have to use it. Pullman and trundle is not an option because no room for ladder. Three is OK, for four would suggest connecting cabins (excellent design) or inside cabin across hall.

Deck -

Cabin # - 1112

Class – Celebrity Suite

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Bed near?(balcony or bath) – N/A

Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – Very Quiet

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – No obstructions whatsoever (which is what you would expect) but my balcony was not on the "X" which means glass was clear.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal for class (spacious)

Was wind a problem? No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? Creaky a bit when the ship was being tossed about.

Any other comments? A lovely suite --highly recommended. Convenient location (close to elevators -right across hall to library), felt very private, was quiet. Spacious -- nice "L" shaped sofa in living area - plenty of room to stretch out. Comfortable deck furniture.

Deck - 6

Cabin # - 6257

Class – 2C

Starboard or Port Side - Port

Bed near?(balcony or bath) – bath

Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – Very quiet - not a problem in the world with this.

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – just at the top of the life boat stanchions would be seen. On balcony looking out and down are the tops of the life boats. Slightly obstructed view to the water.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal and they would be able to connect them to the next cabin.

Was wind a problem? None.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? Not aft.

Any specific problems with this cabin? Yes. The room attendent Jose was always making the room too clean - like you were afraid to use it. He brought ice when requested.

Any other comments? Great room - i would think level 7 and 8 are perfect if they had this room attendent.

Thanks so much for getting this thread started. It is really helpful to all of us who don't like surprises! Would it be possible to put a link on this thread to the Solstice deck plans so that we can see where the cabins are located? I have no clue how to do it, but it seems like it could be done. thanks to everyone who is posting info.

:) Have a question about cabin layout for anyone might know, the Vista Deck forward cabins. I would like to to know what the bed locations in the area of cabins 8117 to 8139, which cabins have the beds closets to the balconey, additionally the bed locations for cabins 8179 to 8196 would be helpful. Any unforseen disadvantages to these cabin locations someone might know of ?

Thanks

Ship - Solstice

Deck - 12

Cabin # - 2130

Class – Sky Suite (Handicap Accessible)

Starboard or Port Side – Starboard Aft (not stern)

Bed near?(balcony or bath) – Centered

Quiet Cabin –This cabin and others along both the starboard and port aft sides (not stern cabins) are directly under the Ocean View Café and are subject to beaucoup noise all hours of the day and night.

Balcony View – Unobstructed

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? – Oversized

Was wind a problem? -- No…. Regardless of class of cabin and location, you will experience wind tunnel effect if you have both your balcony and cabin doors open.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? -- No

Any specific problems with this cabin? – None

Any other comments? – Because this is a handicap accessible cabin, it has several unique features. 1) This cabin is larger than the standard Sky Suite. 2) Your key card, handicap button inside the cabin, or manual operation of the door handle results in the cabin door opening automatically. It is impossible to manually close it; you have to wait until it closes itself. This feature allows ample time for wheel-chaired passengers to enter and exit the cabin. 3) The primary closet’s clothes rod has a lever a wheel-chaired passenger can pull lowering the rod and providing easy access to hanging clothes. The hanging rod in the secondary closest is half-length and at wheel-chair level. While this provides easy access to a wheel-chaired guest, it is so low you cannot hang trousers on it and reduces the amount of available hanging space. 4) The shower is designed to accommodate wheel chairs. There is a tiled ridge that runs the length of the shower designed and intended to keep the shower water inside the shower. It is not very effective and water will flow onto the bathroom floor. Stateroom attendants will lay two bath towels lengthwise to absorb the water. The controls and hand wand are easily accessible.
