Getting Back Off the Ship After Check in

Good morning!

Thanks everyone for such great advice.

I am flying in for a cruise on the Glory this weekend and because I only have a carry-on, I shipped a box of spray sunblock and my full-face snorkel mask to my family last week to bring to the port because they are driving.

My check-in time is 11-11:30am (I have FTTF), theirs is not until 1:30pm. My question is, can I get on the ship, get to my room, get situated and when they arrive, get off the ship to go get my stuff so they don't have to deal with bringing it on?

They're already doing me a favor by driving my stuff to the port, I don't want to burden them further by having them have to carry it on along with their luggage.

Thanks so much!

Interestingly, I was specifically told I could not when I asked in Tampa last week. I wanted to get the gangway photo with my dad in our matching t-shirts and his flight was delayed so we didn't arrive together (and I wasn't sure he would make it at all). I even told the story of why and was told no. This was by the guy who checked us in and walked us on board from the terminal.

I really hope I can! They have a small box with a bunch of sunblock and my mask! I guess if they can get it through, that's ok. I just didn't want to burden them.

Do you remember what time that was? I am hoping to get on the Paradise early on September 29 and leave for an hour or so to show my SO what the immediate area is like.

Share you sunblock with them and call it even :)

If they are checking bags, then carrying a little box of sunblock and a mask is probably not a big deal at all. Just put in a grocery shopping reusable bag or something. You can always meet them at the gangway when they board.

I can't remember if they guy told me when we checked in (about 11:30) or when he was walking me onto the boat (we had an escort onto the ship for unrelated reasons). I am pretty sure it was when we were walking onto the ship about 12:30. My advice is stop and check your bags with the porters outside the terminal and then show your SO around the area before you check in. Embarkation was a nightmare and very delayed. They actually ended up closing the terminal to new arrivals because it was at capacity (and didn't tell anyone left standing out in the sun) for a while. When we returned, disembarkment was totally delayed and slow also, so the people waiting to leave for their cruise also were just stuck in the terminal until at least 12. Not sure how long it lasted after that as we finally managed to escape! No gold stars for the port of Tampa in the last couple of weeks!

That's very true. I asked them to cut it open, so at least if security needs to go through it, they can and won't be weirded out by a sealed, ex-Amazon box ha!

They will be checking some bags with the porter. I was hoping they could just bring it along with them and their carry-ons. I guess we will see what happens in four days!

Thanks all!

Being just a few bottles of sunscreen... Open the box and shove them in their bags loose. This doesn't have to stress you out! You aren't asking for much.

There was a thread just like this a few days ago. Of course you can get off the ship, it's not a prison. You can actually just change your mind and not cruise if you choose. we have gotten off the ship several times, with no questions at all. you do not have to wait in the regular lines when re boarding. you can walk right on the ship with your S&S card.

this we have never experienced " This was by the guy who checked us in and walked us on board from the terminal." No one has ever walked us aboard and you have every right to go to CVS or when ever you want as long as you return in time
