Back to Back Cruise Questions

Next May, we booked London to London on the Explorer. Then we decided to add Barcelona to London as well. Even though Regent offers these two cruises as one cruise, for various reasons, mostly cabin choices, we kept it as back-to-backs. In London, we have to change cabins and we will need new room keys. How will Regent handle this and will we have to disembark and the wait until the next leg is allowed on to embark? Thanks!

Whether or not you have to get off of the ship depends upon the port. We stayed on the ship (out of the way in our suite as we did not want to get in the way of the ship being prepared for the new guests). Another time we took advantage of the offered excursion on turnaround day and was not on the ship.

Just go to Reception and they will tell you when you can exchange card keys. Your steward/stewardess or butler will assist in moving your things from one suite to another.

Travelcat2, if Regent doesn’t have any tours planned for us who are continuing, apparently there is an interesting and large naval base to see. I’m not a Navy man exactly, but a Marine that spent time on ships. Have you been there or know anything about it? Thanks!

Unfortunately I have not visited there but it does sound like a great way to spend time while the ship is being readied for you. Just asked my husband who is from London and he said that it is a great place to visit although be hasn't been there for many years.

As a Portsmouth resident, I can thoroughly recommend visiting the Naval Dockyard, your visit includes Nelson's flagship, the Mary Rose which is beautifully presented, and quite awe inspiring and a boat trip around the harbour plus lots more besides. If you had time there is also a very good and newly refurbished D Day Museum, but to be honest the Dockyard itself is likely to take all your time.
