Can you tell us a bit more about plans for Spirit dry-dock? We understand it is to be made more like Muse. Will there be the same range of dining arrangements?

BTW: Kudos on having listened to guest reaction to initial Muse dining/dress code arrangements and having responded so quickly and creatively.

Indeed information on what the dry dock is to achieve would be good to have, but I'd be more interested to know why the decision was made with such short notice upsetting so many people who'd paid in full when the cruises were released. Surely non maintenance dry docks must be done with proper planning without this sort of unnecessary disruption?

Also why those affected didn't even get the courtesy of any communication to state it was happening or an apology of the cancellation. At least from personal experience this didn't happen. I do honestly think communication from Silversea is an area that needs to be improved considerably.

Lastly, welcome to the forum Mark and thanks for joining us.

May I add another question re. Spirit.

The facilities for sauna and steam on the ship are embarrassing for an all inclusive luxury line. The facilities are, as I recall, coed and very small. For a fee, other facilities are available, but they too are coed with one coed not very private shower.

Can these please -- please! -- be improved at dry dock? We have friends who refuse to sail Spirit because a daily steam session is for them an integral part of the experience of a day on a luxury cruise ship.

Will the stretching have any impact on people who booked suites for cruises after the dry-dock; or was the stretching taken into account when we booked? We'll be in a Vista Suite on the Silver Spirit for the 7/24/18 Copenhagen to Stockholm cruise.

Thank you for the inventive itinerary that goes to so many unusual ports.

Thanks so very much Mark for sharing the Amplified Silver Spirit details with us here.

Very timely as our TA just booked us in a new "stretched" veranda suite for the Spirits fall crossing next September (London to NY).

Mark, when you know can you please let us know the names of the new

Restuarant 1 and Restaurant 2 on the Spirit.

What? I thought you were doing the Whisper TA.

Wes, do you know if those "stretched" suites are a little wider than what is currently on the Spirit?

I'll bet you $100USD it'll be Atlantide and Indochine

Taking a cue from Silver Muse, it would not be a surprise if Atlantide and Indochine is indeed the names of the restaurants. Given the adverse reaction to the lack of open dining on the Muse, I wonder if Restaurant 1 and 2 will now be the open dining area?

Having being on the Muse this summer, I am pleased that the decor in the Verandah suites will now follow that of the Muse as we liked the muted colours very much. What we did not like that much was the "tv in the mirror" which was very clever but which did not give a good viewing experience because of the reflections. Also they must make sure the soundproofing between the rooms is up to par. On the Muse, the neighbours could hear your tv even when it was on normal volume.

We are booked on the June 30 Silver Spirit Copenhagen - Stockholm and are looking forward to a much improved Silver Spirit.

Laughing about that one! We were newbies on the Spirit this past April. Loved everything about it, except one evening our (main) TV went out. When we told our butler about it the following am, he replied "which one?".....hahaha! We had no idea there was another one behind the mirror across from the bed! We now know.....(giggle!)

:') No, I did not! The Muse was our first cruise with Silversea. Anyway, that is a minor issue. The sound seeping into the neighbour’s is a major annoyance. I read in another thread that they are dealing with this and soundproofing.

Anyway, kudos to Silversea for responding to these issues on the Muse including changes to the much maligned dining and dress code issues on the Muse!

That may be true but we are still having to endure it right now, the change is coming far too late.

Spirit is back in service. Why are there no new reveal videos? Or even passenger created videos of the first sailings? All that's on the net are the new section insert videos. I'd like to see the public spaces post refurb.

Thanks for the questions, We have expanded the pool deck resized the casino and gift shops added an arts café and Starz dining room to the stern with it own galley and expanded La Terrazza.

We have created and expanded Atlantide and right sized Indochine. The ship looks great but like all big projects we have had teething challenges, Also added a stern thruster which will make her more maneuverable.

Thanks for the update Mark. I look forward to viewing the Spirit first hand in a couple of weeks.

Slightly off topic, but certainly related. Can you confirm or otherwise, the rumoured intentions to convert Silver Wind to an Ice Breaker Class ship (AKA Cloudyfied!)

I remember very well the mumbles on Cruise Critic that Silversea intended to Stretch Silver Spirit and was most alarmed to learn from posts on Cruise Critic very shortly after, that the cruise I'd paid in full would be cancelled for the rather rushed (it seemed) decision to do this work ASAP.

I'm particularly interested in posing this question, as not only is the Wind my favourite ship in the fleet, but have grave concerns I may find my cruise on the Wind cancelled for similar circumstances next April a year on from my last fully paid cruise was cancelled.

Hoping these rumours have no substance.... Or at least not until after the current published program for the Wind has been completed.

Many thanks.

Okapit.... I will post a walk through video for the Spirit similar to those done I've done for the Wind, Cloud and Muse.... And will also shortly post a new one for Cloud Explorer in the next week or so.

The Silver Cloud Expedition has been an overwhelmingsuccess with our valued guests and this has triggered an internal discussion onwhether we should convert the Silver Wind to Expedition. The decisionhas not been taken yet.

Silver Wind does have a dry-dock scheduled from November 25 through December 21st of this year which will be the first phase of her renewal. We will not take the next step (reinforcing the hall, rudders and propellers) until that is completed and we begin planning the ships next dry-dock cycle so through 2019 she will remain in her traditional operating cycle.

Hi Mark,

Thank you so much for addressing this topic, and for your willingness to continue responding to questions posted here. I appreciate Silversea all the more knowing that you are here and listening.

Just for clarification, the Wind is currently scheduled through March 2020. Are you saying that there is a possibility her Winter 2020 voyages might be cancelled if the decision is to ready her for expeditions?

Again, I thank you for your gracious responsiveness.

Thank you very much for answering my enquiry Mark. That’s at least put my mind at rest that my Spring 2019 booking at least will be safe which is a relief.

Hopefully my booking in 2020 will be safe also.

As you will be aware, the Wind has a good “fan base” and seen it mentioned numerous times that Silver Wind is their favourite SS ship. In a thread discussing the likelihood of the conversion happening, all are aghast it may happen but nearly everyone understands the principles of why you would want to do this. If things change or dates become known, please do let us know.

Anyway, it’s appreciated you taking the time to answer and we will all certainly be grateful for any updates once any decision reached and any dates decided.

Footage captured, along with a few hundred photos, several 360's and my journey down the Thames to the awaiting Spirit.

Will post in a separate thread in a couple of days once I've edited.

First Impressions - loved it. I've not been on the Spirit prior to the expansion (though was booked but got cancelled). Its justified to say it has been "Musified", but would add, I think there have been several improvements to this too.

I did witness some of the teething problems that I've seen mentioned. eg - in La Terrazza I saw electricians working on the ceiling lighting, then later in the afternoon, see the lighting flickering, so certainly on going.
