They are a local Russian travel service. Our 12 Viking passengers' experience was excellent. Good communicators via email.

They even took my wife (alone) to the evening Swan Lake ballet. Escorted her home to board the ship. First class.

I see a lot of people use TJ travel to book St. Petersburg excursions. I have never heard of them. Could you provide me with info on who they are and how to book excursions with them? Thanks. :)

Also check out the ports of call section of these boards. You will find comments and recommendations about all of the tour companies that people have done business with in St.P. There are more people reading and commenting in that section and for a longer period of time than in this forum. Viking has only been sailing for three years.

We used them a few years ago for two days when we were in St Petersburg on a Norwegian cruise. They were excellent. It was interesting to see the Russian underground economy at work. Money passed hands several times- not on our part but by the tour guide. In some places, we skipped the line, in others our vehicle was able to park where no others could. I would recommend them without hesitation.

Yes, our guide was a PhD finalist working at The Hermitage. He went up to the guard (whom he knew) as everyone including all those many in the Viking busses were waiting and got our small group right in ahead of the crowds for our tour. All venues were like this. Our Mercedes van could park closer than the big tour busses. OUTSTANDING.

We may have had the same guide when we used TJ in 2015. He worked at the Hermitage and was a student. If so, he was amazing. We had the same excellent experience. Highly recommend.

My sister and I used TJ in Estonia - even though there was only 2 of us they did the tour. Guide was wonderful and the price was ultra reasonable. We wanted to tour Berlin with them but because there was only 4 of us they did not want to make the 3 hour trip to the ship to pick us up and wanted us to meet them at the train station in Berlin. With arrival at one station and departure from a different one we felt there were just too many permutations and combinations to take a risk so we cancelled and had no issues with getting our payment refunded. Really wish we could have toured with them as the ship tour was "Berlin by bus" (my title) and disappointing.
