Yes, buy some cruise insurance, not necessarily from cruise line but some travel insurance.

No you don't need your own beach towels, cruise line will provide them. Just return them when you're done, or you will pay for them.

Smart shorts are fine except on formal nights, and some people will object to them in the main dining room at any time.

If you are not too fussy about where you sit, there will always be lounge chairs in the pool area.

I don't know about Miami pools as I live in Florida and do not stay in hotels in Miami
