VennDiagram Posted April 4, 2018 #1 Share Posted April 4, 2018 We are overnighting in PV Dec 5 to 6. Is this during "turtle release" season? Can anyone who has done a turtle release give me some information, please? (I have two very different visions of what this might be like: 1. drunk partiers staggering across the beach dropping baby turtles; or 2. an amazing, spiritual experience ....) Any info would be appreciated :)
Ine Posted April 4, 2018 #2 Share Posted April 4, 2018 Indeed this will be turtle release season. However no guarantee it will be that evening, since Mother Nature decides. In case you are on Facebook check this site: Campamento Tortuguero Boca De Tomates They will announce in the morning re releases that day. It is a voluntary project, no costs involved, however of course donations are very welcome. To get to that place take a cab to the beach behind Plaza Marina, next to the golfcourse Flamingo at Playa Bocanegra.. Or get off the bus at Plaza Marina and walk Calle Albatros (northside of Plaza Marina near Hotel One), take a right at Paseo Bocanegra. (Check google maps) From there it will be a 10 minutes walk over the beach, under and past the runway of the airport. It will be done at the end of the afternoon/sunset to avoid birds eating the turtle babys. They also nice T-shirts and other souvenirs there. We have done it a few times with the grandsons, they love it.
