There are still wayyy more positive then negative, I think. It is a cruise Critic forum, so there will be good and bad, then again, you always have haters and trolls.

I cant wait for our cruise either, always a GREAT time...Have fun!!!

The next time you see a negative posting, look at their post counts. More than likely, they are first time posters. Then there are a couple on here who post nothing but negative posts. I can't help but wonder why they come on a Carnival Board if they detest Carnival so bad, other than to just put it down.

If you take the time to look, you'll find that each cruise line, and each ship within a particular cruise line has both positive and negative remarks from cruisers. There's an old saying, "One man's poison is another man's pleasure." The Liberty is one of my favorite ships. It's sister ship, the Conquest, not so much. Someone else may be just the opposite. I never book or not book a cruise based on someone else's opinions. When Embarkation Day arrives, I try to keep my expectations at a reasonable level and board with the attitude that it's going to be a great cruise.

I stayed in a really bad choice of a hotel once on vacation. The vacation was a great time. Same goes for Carnival. I went on a Carnival cruise. I had a good time with my family, but the ship had issues not resolved, the staff uncaring, and the ugly colors made me wonder what the designer was thinking. I still had a good time, but I learned that everyone else is better.

I agree that any cruise is mostly what you make of it. If someone is rude you can get really upset and fume about it or you can do your best to forgive and move on. On almost all cruises you will find Chair hogs, rude behavior and things to get frustrated about but it is always YOUR choice whether to be frustrated or not. I like to try and take the Bob Marley route--"don't worry bout a ting, every little ting gonna be alright"--after all the weather is warmer, the drinks have little umbrellas, somebody else is making my bed and the food is being prepared for me-- how bad can it be?

I do hope the OP has a great enjoyable cruise. However, if their post cruise review only focuses on the positives, it will be as useless to me as a totally negative review. To be fair, a review should have both the pro and con to be somewhat realistic.

I'll be on my 35th Carnival cruise (out of maybe 50 total) tomorrow, and yet I don't hesitate to criticize Carnival or mention a shortcoming here on CC. I'll certainly commend Carnival when they do something memorable. But even sailing the same ship on different dates can leave varying impressions.

Funny, when a poster asks I'm sailing Carnival for the 1st time after cruising (fill in the name) exclusively, what can I expect, many Carnival boosters here advise to "lower expectations and you'll have a great time".

Very true. Quite a few cutbacks have been reversed after people here and elsewhere complained about them.

I don't think you have to ever "lower you expectations", just keep them realistic. We all have different likes and dislikes. One person might say "The food at the buffet is terrible." Another person might say "The food at the buffet is very good." Who's right, and who's wrong? When reading someone's review, I try to separate opinion from fact.

I believe this is what the OP is referring to: "I went on a Carnival cruise I had a good time with my family, but (pretty much everything about the ship sucked) and "I learned that everyone else is better." So, my question is, why do you come on CCL's board? I'm assuming that since everyone else is better you aren't planning on ever going on another CCL cruise - so, why the interest.

My guess is that you are on here to warn other potential cruisers. From your post, I'm also assuming that you've gone on exactly ONE CCL cruise, so what would make you experienced enough to comment?

I admit that I've only cruised with CCL, but they give me good rates and they meet my expectations. I'm open to cruising other lines, but just haven't been able to find anything close to the rates I get (admittedly, this is because I spend quite a bit of time in the casino). When, and if, I do cruise another line & if I'm not totally satisfied with the cruise - I promise I will not visit their board & tell others that "everyone else is better" just because I had ONE negative experience.

Entertainment and laughs. It makes for some fun reading. Plus, if you only share your stories with people that agree with you, than you not sharing. But if you share with people that disagree, and you convince them to try other cruise lines, than it becomes a fun challenge. I have convinced at least 3 people to try other cruise lines, and they were happy with the change. However, I can't measure success on the boards, so I just use it for humor.

Nope, been on 5 but the last two were so bad that I have stories to last a lifetime. It has only gotten worse and one day, I just might for fun, try a ship, to gain new ammunition in my quest. I have the money to do so.

Easy to say "meet expectations" when you don't know what the "expectations" should be. I just share that Carnival is on the bottom, and it only gets better.

I have to agree with this. Unfortunately, a number of people can't (or won't) simply say "I tried ______ and didn't care for it. I've decided it's not for me." Very simple. Two sentences, short and sweet. No further comments necessary. That blank could be filled with pretty much anything. In my case, I'll go off topic (but not to hijack the conversation) and say "cauliflower".

Two words, "MSC Seaside". If you're looking for a cruise that is a great price to beat Carnival I suggest you check her out, she's brand new. Just got off of her last week. I sailed the Vista last year and am booked for the Panorama for 2020. It was our first MSC cruise and it was spectacular. The food, the service , the ship, and fellow passengers on it made my time on the Vista last year appear that I spent it at a Wal Mart. I paid less for four in a balcony vs. Vista inside. I can honestly tell you that Carnivals food last year was hospital cafeteria food compared to MSC. If you you've only sailed Carnival then you've spent your entire cruise career at the bottom, sorry to say. I'm honest and even with another CCL booked at his moment, the overall experience is the worst. Do yourself a favor and branch out a little.

I have no problem with negativity when called for but when a review is all negative I will disregard it.

Some years ago met a couple on a Carnival cruise and thought they were having a very nice time. We sure did. They came back and wrote one of the most negative reviews ever.

After being on about 40 or so cruises they are not all great but they are sure worth doing or we would not be cruising as much as we have.

Will say that we have kind of tired of the Caribbean and want to see the world and Carnival is no longer our cruise line of choice in that regard. These days we find that Princess better suits us..

The best advice I can give anyone is don't bother reading reviews before a cruise. Go with an open mind and see for yourself if you like a particular line or ship.

I totally agree with this. Never has a review matched what I found when I got onboard the ship. Most reviewers on here either overplay the positive or the negative (and go into way to much detail about unimportant things). It is always either better or worse than reported. In addition, every cruise is unique, even on the same ship, food varies, staff friendliness varies, etc.... I would NEVER choose or not choose a ship because of a review or reviews.

LOL, it is interesting that the op mentions about excitement on an upcoming cruise and all the negativity here in CC land and the usual basher come out to play. OP, have a wonderful cruise.... let us (that care) know about your thoughts when you return.

Thanks for the advise - I'll have to look into MSC. In reference to me spending my entire cruise career at the bottom, I also worked onboard CCL ships long, long ago, so I guess I've been wallowing in the mud for many years.

Now, may I ask you - as a seasoned traveler, why in the world would you spend your money to cruise on the Panorama if you think it's the bottom of the barrel?

Yes! Preach! I couldn't give a rats behind about table cloths or the color of the walls. That affects my vacation on no way. Ugly walls on a vacation are better than my nice walls at work any day of the week. I have had a very rough start to this year and I think the only thing getting me through is looking forward to my cruise. 45 days!

Apparently MSC has improved their Caribbean cruise experience since I sailed with them three or four years ago. I experienced just the opposite, especially regarding food and staff. Once was enough for us.

Actually I have travelled extensively and have experienced 5 star accommodations, so I really don't need anyone to tell me that I don't know what expectations should be. And, for the record, anyone with money doesn't normally need to tell anyone they have money. Just thought I would share my definition of "class" since you think I need you to define "expectations."

And now, I will leave you to "troll on" dude.
