Need Clarification on LCV Benefits/Discounts

We recently completed or first Azamara cruise on the Quest. While on board, we didn't have our act together with regards to our future vacation plans for 2019/2020, so didn't take advantage of the booking a future cruise while on board benefit. Subsequent to our return, we have better defined our plans and are looking at a 2020 cruise. So my questions are:

1) Am I correct in my understanding that there is NO discount for LCV members/repeat cruisers except for the on board booking discount? If we book now, we pay the standard rate?

2) I've seen little to no variation in pricing when looking at the Azamara website or other cruise sites. In booking our 2020 cruise, will using the direct Azamara web site result in the best available pricing?

You'll find your best price through a travel agent that specializes in cruises and whose agency books lots of Azamara cruises.

Some agencies get what is called "group space." This just means that they hold a block of cabins at a discounted price. They pass part of that discount to their customers. You DON'T have to join a "group" to take advantage of this kind of pricing. (This may be several hundred dollars per person.)

In addition, your travel agent may offer you at least 5% in onboard credit, which is often refundable. This will lower your price further.

All these perks are in addition to whatever the cruise line of currently offering in the way of promotions.

Cruise Critic rules out mentioning travel agents on this site. The best way to find one is to ask people on your cruise if they have a travel agent they would recommend. Tell them you've heard about travel agencies that offer the perks I described.

It’s always worth taking out a future cruise certificate whilst on board to preserve the LCV discount should you plan to cruise in the future with Azamara. We always have one in hand, even though most of our cruise booking is done whilst onboard ship.

Not familiar with the "future cruise certificate" option. Can you explain? It's a moot point now, but would be helpful for the future, maybe.

Here are the t & cs for Cruise Again bookings. The certificate refers to an “Open Booking” as detailed in them where you have no specific booking in mind. You get the LCV discount when you eventually book, but no onboard credit. 50% of the usual deposit applies:

There are often promos that can save you money. Double upgrades on some cruises may save you money. Sometimes, the promo is more OBC, premium drinks, or unlimited wifi. Some promos include free laundry. Sometimes there are choice air credits. That has saved us money on some cruises. Watch out for a promo that works for you. On my next Azamara cruise, I was able to use quarterly savings LCV which saved money. 10%. I know it can be confusing. Talk to a good TA. They usually know what promos are coming soon. TAs cannot cut fares. They can offer extras like OBC.

Thanks. We actually decided today to go ahead and put down a deposit on a specific October 2020 Greek Isles cruise we liked. Since it's still over two years away, we decided we could justify booking a Club Ocean Suite like we had on our recent cruise. But there were only two suites available of the four in that category, so we decided it best to go ahead and get something reserved. Two years is a long way away, but those cabins obviously book up quickly. We now know to plan better before the next cruise and be ready to book on board to get the discount.

Hi Bonnie, the link isn't working 'Page not found', from memory Best Price Guarantee isn't available in the Australian market either is it? Thanks in advance.

I'm anxiously awaiting the October 1 release of the new LCV quarterly savings cruises, as none of the current offers fit our time frame. Stupid jobs getting in the way of cruising :)

How does this work when a category is sold out? We booked for Oct 2020 back in late September, and subsequently, all of the staterooms in our chosen category (Club Ocean Suite) sold out. As a result, we couldn't shop online to see if the price had dropped. Subsequently there must have been a cancellation because one Club Ocean is now showing as available, but whenever that books, we'll be back to the same situation

I guess if the category is sold out, Azamara has no reason to reprice/discount/add incentives to that category anyway, but I was just wondering how that all worked in that situation?
