Galveston-taxi or park at the port

We are cruising out of Galveston NEXT Spring Break 3/10/19. I got what seems to be a very good price for the Baymont Inn and Suites for one night pre-cruise. They do not have a shuttle (we can leave our vehicle there for the week), but I know we could get a cab to and from the port, or we can get parking near the port. What are your thoughts?

I *think* I would just park at port. That way when the cruise is over, I can just go to my car and head out. Instead of loading up in a taxi, going back to the hotel and unloading and reloading. When vacation is over, I'm just ready to be on my way. Also, some port parking is covered, indoors, etc. Does the hotel offer either that kind of parking?
