Is there a secret to Vibe passes?

I called NCL and they said you get vibe passes on the Escape at guest services.

As usual, the person to whom you spoke at NCL is wrong. You can either believe those of us who have done it, or you can go to the wrong place and miss getting a pass because they will sell out to those who went to the right place. Up to you.

I'm not going to do this, but can you sneak in? Are you carded when you get drinks?

They will check wristbands the first day, and also verify cards when drinks are purchased. Very quickly they learn who everyone is that belongs in there, since there are only 70 people. By day 2, they are greeting everyone by name. If someone who doesn't have a pass walks in, they will be stopped nearly immediately. I have seen it happen. In the event the bartenders are turned away, the other passengers, who all know who belongs and who doesn't fairly quickly, will draw it to their attention.

Best way to get passes??? Have you ever seen the scene in Home Alone2 when they are running through the airport? LOL

Unfortunately thats about it. On our 14 day cruise on the BA their was a mad dash.....for us younger folks. Older ones who couldn't move as fast missed out. I saw a lot of very angry people while we were in line waiting to pay for Vibe (after we got our passes) Not a great way to start a cruise.....

The Haven sundeck on the Breakaway, Getaway and Escape are too small to accommodate all the Haven guests who want it. It's a chair hog situation even in the Haven on these ships. And there is no bar on the sundeck, the Haven bar is 2 floors down, the bar service is slow because the bar is 2 floors down. It accommodates probably 25 loungers for probably 200 Haven Guests. In no way is the Haven sundeck adequate for the demand. The Haven sundeck is inferior to Vibe on these ships so I can't imagine NCL buying into any sort of banning Haven guests from buying the passes first. No matter how much the minions complain.

The Haven on the Epic is a totally different story. Adults over 18 have access to POSH which is beautiful, probably 4-5 times the size of the Haven sundecks on the other ships. It has it's own large bar, lots of padded sun loungers, plenty of shade, so much space there is no need for chair hogs.

The answer of course would be to make additional space for a second Vibe on these ships so twice as many people could have access. The problem is with the newer ships they have built so many cabins into the space used to be occupied by outdoor space that there really isn't much sundeck space to make this change.

While hanging in Vibe on Escape, we often commented about how EMPTY the Haven sundeck was. Our entire cruise, it was nearly completely empty over there. While our cantilevered hot tub in Vibe generally had a handful of people in it, the one on the Haven sundeck only had 1 person we saw the entire cruise. We talked about what a waste of space it was. This was in the Caribbean during the summer in beautiful weather.

Ok, I will concede my frustration directed at those who purchase the passes and do not use them is misplaced. I even prefaced by saying I fully understand they have the right to do with those passes whatever they please (even if it means only poking their head up into the vibe once and never returning).

There is something wrong with the situation/setup, though, if you could be the very first person to arrive at the port that morning, head directly to the Guest Services desk, and attempt to purchase the one add on which would be meaningful you were hoping to get, and still have it sold out. It's a frustrating situation, to say the least. I know it's not the fault of those who rightfully take advantage of their priority boarding to maximize their perks and access. It just doesn't seem quite right when even putting in the effort to be timely and going for what you want still doesn't even give you a decent shot unless you already fall into a number of (usually financially prohibitive) classes of passengers. If getting to the port early and making a bee-line for the desk actually had a reasonable chance of success, I wouldn't care at all. The real problem is less that those with extensive histories with the line and those who invested in the premium experience of the Haven get first access to many of the ships offerings, it's that the system for such a small space should have at least some parity if time and again it's shown that in general, the general population on the cruise has zero or near-zero chance of access due to the popularity among the priority boarding pax. In that case, NCL may as well just stop marketing Vibe to us plebeians, thus avoiding any frustration and disappointment.

I just stayed in the Haven and I'd have to agree with you. I don't know why you'd get a Vibe pass when you have the Haven. I was hoping to try NCL non-Haven sometime and thought, well then I'd want a Vibe pass. They fact they seem to be mutually exclusive isn't right.

I always mention this in threads about Vibe. Vibe is adults only and the Haven isn't. We have been in the Haven three times, Epic*2 and Breakaway, and children hasn't been a problem but sometimes...

(I have probably said it already in this thread.)

Of course I believe all my cruise critic friends. Just wanted to be sure. Thank you

On a serious note.... we usually book through casino so we are second or third group to board. I take all the carry-ons and my zumba class taking wife runs for her life to Headliners.

Curious about our chances for two vibe passes // We have five of us. DH and I don't want the passes. My dad doesn't want the pass. But our son 22 and my mom 82 (they like to hang out in the hot tub and visit and DS would really like the Vibe passes for them if they are available for the more readily available hot tub in maybe a quieter area).

We booked through the casino -- It was an offer for an inside freebie cabin for two (we did the third person free at sea) and with that casino booking you can get 10% off a second room booking (similar deal that some travel agencies get it sounds like). Anyway we upgraded to a mini suite on 8 with large balcony and we booked a second one of those for my parents (Those are mini suites - just a little bigger room, though, not regular suites and not Haven of course). Also we have special wheel chair boarding for my dad (some mobility issues). This is a cruise on the Getaway last full week of January 2019 from Miami.

Anyway, I was curious as to what boarding group we might be in. Would we be the second or third boarding group because of booking through the casino? Was thinking DS and I might get there early, board as soon as we can and run to customer service to try for two passes and I would give mine to my mom if we are fortunate enough to secure passes. Thinking DH, my mom, and my dad could get there later with no rush to board.

Or would a better strategy be to bring my dad early and board with him, since he has wheel chair boarding?? He is an early riser and wouldn't mind that., but I don't want him to be waiting around for a long period of time (can't stand for long and not sure about chair comfort etc. in the waiting area), so maybe that's a bad idea. We will be doing an uber or lyft ride from our hotel // maybe two different ones.

Thanks so much for your thoughts. It won't make or break the cruise for DS, but he thinks it would be so cool to get a Vibe pass, and I'd be interested in what you think our best option would be for the early boarding.

When I was on GA a few weeks ago. someone tried to purchase for someone else and were told the person getting the pass has to be present and have their room card. I was also in group 1 to embark and got #62. Being in group 2/3 would likely put you out of contention in getting passes.

I’m traveling on Bliss April 2020. It's me the wife and 2 kids. I don't necessarily want Vibe passes for the whole week. Is it possible to just get it for a day?

Also why not make the passes a per day thing not a week at a time thing and limit the amount of days you can get them for. This way more people would have access you could also then make a diff price point for sea days vs. port days

Nope. Get up reeealllly early and spend your first morning sitting on the sidewalk in front of the terminal and buy a week pass or nothing.

Because they can guarantee revenue for the whole week, even if it turns out to be bad weather.

Also, avoid posting to old 2017 threads like this because it brings up a lot of out of date information.

Don't complicate things😂😂. Also sailing with kids, unless over 21 , it won't work for you in any scenario.

NCL makes their $$$ no matter if you "could" buy daily, or as they do now weekly.

Doing/selling weekly works, and it does become a familiarity with the Vibe pax.

yes, Haven gets you on board faster, but if you are paying for the Haven, you really dont need Vibe.

get to port early, you will probably get boarding group 2. also, you are sailing in october which helps.

the one and only time we did Vibe, it was sold out despite my fiance RUNNING to customer service. however, he had a nice chat with the person there and stated that we really wanted the passes and what could he do? ultimately, we got them. try being persistent, talk up the honeymoon, etc. it may work.

fact is, they sell X passes for the week, but in our experience, it sat empty most days. a waste. we never saw anyone in a cabana, and there was a group of about 10 of us that were "regulars" parked up there all day. On subsequent sails, i talked to some who had access. one guy said he only used it for the bar (no wait) and *if* he wanted a hot tub. otherwise, he never sat up there. so they can probably oversell these (even tho they dont advertise it) konwing that there is a large percentage that buy them and rarely or never use the club.

No one NEEDS a vibe pass.

The best and easiest fix for this vibe stupidity is for NCL to raise the price to the point that supply equals demand.  With the demnad far exceeding the supply at the current price it is by definition underpriced.   As in any free market system, the buyer sets the price and buyers are doing so in this case by continuing to have a mad rush for these silly passes at the current selling price.  No need to come up with any schemes, plan, or distribution methods to correct what is a significantly underpriced commodity.  Simply raise the price to what the consumer is indicating that the price should be.  Problem solved.

As a Haven passenger, I feel like we have to purchase Vibe passes because the Haven pool area being over run with children. I believe the Vibe has its appeal as an Adults Only. Thats why we purchase the pass. I wish the Haven did have an adults only like Disney does but they dont so here we are.
