Could You Pull Off a Track Suit to a Formal Night in the MDR?

Hopefully not on Cunard :p

I have definitely seen jackets from track suits in the QM2 MDR on Informal nights.

(For those unaware, Cunard requires gentlemen to wear jackets all nights in the MDR--though on non-Formal nights what constitutes a jacket is now left up to each gent's interpretation)

If it's important to you, you could probably "pull off" basketball shorts and a muscle shirt on most lines. On our recent HAL cruise "gala" (not formal) nights, there were several tee shirts and baseball hats (worn backwards, of course).

The fact is: no one (including staff) is concerned enough to make an issue of it - with the likely exception of Cunard.

I've seen some really nice designer (Polo, Gucci) track suits for us guys.

Could a track suit pass on formal night?

Yes, you can always pull off a track suit for formal nights! Wearing your formal clothes over the track suit would be uncomfortable and make the formal wear drape wrong.

Gucci or not, that looks like costly pj's to me. I'm not sure same is meant to be worn in public but

Wear that if you wish. :D Wear whatever you want. Maybe the dining room manage r (DRM) will let them seat you.

Probably would at least get you the permanent “Fashion Victim” list, if not sent back to your cabin to change.
