Heidi13 Posted June 1, 2018 #26 Share Posted June 1, 2018 Great suggestions! Thank you for the information. Are there specific amenities that are "better" than others? I would imagine laundry and drycleaning would be a nice perk... For our next World Cruise in 2020, I researched the options and then selected a company, before visiting a TA to make the booking. We selected the Viking Ocean 2020 WC. Viking has a policy that limits the perks a TA can provide, which for over 15 days is $500. While that is tiny compared to the price, Viking is providing some significant benefits, which include: Free business class flights and transfers to/from port Free gratuities Free drinks package Free laundry (self-service machines) Free Wi-Fi Free Visa service, provided we use their vendor Free excursion in each port Port fees & taxes included Free luggage shipping at embarkation Free alternative restaurants No annoying on-board photogs Very substantial OBC - US $8K Obviously nothing is free, as we paid for everything up front. Rather than search for a travel agent specialising in WC and/or luxury cruises, I prefer to relax at home researching the cruise options. Once we selected Viking, there wasn't much point in comparing TA perks, as they are regulated by Viking policy. Our TA was prepared to provide each of us US $500, but since we are paying in CAN$, Viking limited them to CAN$500. Yes, we could have received substantially more from the TA, if we selected a different cruise line, but we are more than satisfied with the overall package. Hoping you find a WC and TA that meets your needs.
