Arriving on a Wednesday in August about 2pm. Staying at Lord Stanley Suites on the Park. Need to get from the airport to the hotel with my mom (in her young 70s), and 3 kids age 10, 10 and 6, plus hubby and me. My daughter who uses a wheelchair for long distances but can transfer to a car/van with some assistance from us.

I know from reviewing the SkyTrain map/routes, that SkyTrain does not get to our hotel. Maybe not even within walking distance? It also may not be the cheapest option.

What is the most economical way to go from the airport to our hotel? With 5 people, luggage, and our daughters wheelchair, I know a regular taxi wont cut it.

2 taxis is the sensible option for 6 people with a wheelchair - Lord Stanley is in the pricier Stanley Park zone, so $37 each + tip. You'll only need one accessible cab, and might not even need to wait for one of those if the chair folds up (no extra charge for accessible minivan cabs, but there are lots fewer of them so usually an extra few minutes wait). However if you're willing to walk one block you can game the system - ask to be dropped at the corner of Denman & Alberni (SkyDive Vancouver's office is a good location there) as that trips you over the other side of Denman into the $31 zone, saving you $12 for the sake of <200 yards on foot.

Another option would be to send granny, daughter in wheelchair, plus one of you or hubster by taxi with the bags (and possibly another kid if enough room - depends how light you travel). The other of you plus one or two of the kids could ride SkyTrain and transfer onto a bus (anything running along Georgia - Google Maps is fully integrated with routes & timings). Since you won't have suitcases to worry about, the bus transfer is no problem - and your total fare will be $9.10 for the adult and $7.80 for each kid including the airport AddFare.

It's not a huge saving compared to the cabs, especially since there's no way you can weasel the zone boundary with all the bags in the cab you'll have to get dropped right at the hotel, but it's still another few bucks saved.
