Great Documentary on the Panama Canal

I'm in the process of reading "The Path Between the Seas" by David McCullough...but not sure I'm going to make it through the nearly 700 pages. (But I'll keep trying...)

In the meantime, I discovered a wonderful documentary on the history of the Panama Canal produced by PBS...The American Experience. The episode on the Panama Canal was #3 in the 4th season (2011) and is available on Amazon. For Prime members, the video is free, for others it is only a couple of dollars to rent.

If you are like me and would rather "watch" than "read"...check it out. Seeing what was involved in the building of the canal will make our transit in April all the more interesting!

I've nearly finished the book - only 100 pages to go and 12 days before we sail; should manage it, just!!!

Fortunately here in the UK we have access to PBS America and DH and I have just finished watching the programme. What a feat of engineering. Can't wait until we see the real thing.

Thanks for letting us know about the programme. A real treat.
