Agreed. Also, it takes you door to door. You do not have to get your luggage on and off a train and then to the cruise terminal. It is only a tiny bit more expensive than going by train. When you think of the overall cost of your trip, I wouldn't be bothering with the train just to save probably ten or so dollars for two people.

Thank you guys, Taxi sounds good seeing we are staying in a hotel the night before the cruise and it will drop us of outside. The reason I was interested in using the train is because we are 5 adults with luggage and a normal taxi would not fit us all in. The shuttle vans don't seem to have very good reviews. Pre ordered one on our last cruise just for our 5 adults and was told we would be met by the driver at the airport with our name on a sign, he did not turn up and we had to phone the company and the driver turned up 50 mins later with no sign, we saw this guy wandering around and I had to ask him if he was looking for us. According to the reviews they all seem to have this problem.

We had a similar problem when we booked a shuttle. Then we were driven to several hotels before finally arriving at the cruise terminal well over an hour after leaving the airport.

At the airport you can tell the 'taxi marshall' you need a maxi taxi. You will probably have to wait several minutes for one to turn up. Unless one is ordered specially for you, the cost for the taxi ride is the same as in a normal-sized taxi.

We will be staying in Mascot from 30th January to the 4th of February and are planning to take the train to and from Circular Quay several times during those days. Should we be concerned?

You should not be concerned - this line has trains going to & fro all the time. There may be some services not operating, but it will not be a problem for you. The train drivers are planning industrial action based on not working overtime in support of their claim for a wage rise.

Enjoy your visit.

Hi guys,

Having trouble on the Gold Coast finding out the real situation with the Sydney trains debacle.

This Sunday we need to travel from woy woy to north Sydney for our 1 night pre cruise stay.

We were all set to catch the train, however can't really find anything concrete whether trains will be running or not or on a different timetable.

Would anyone please know whether the trains on this line will be affected or not. If so, it's back to the drawing board.

Regards bob.:)

That is great, thank you. Apparently the hotel we are staying at is a bit of a hill from CQ station so maxi taxi sounds the way to go. Appreciate your reply.

All will be good - there is no debacle. The industrial action is scheduled to start next week ie in time for the Australia Day long weekend 26-28 Jan. These things are all about timing.

Use the trip planner to see the schedule - google 131500 and you can input your trip & it will give you the schedule.

My SIL had to catch a bus between Berowra and North Sydney last Friday, not sure if the works will be continuing.

Yes, there was major work being done over the Xmas/NY at Hornsby which meant busses on that line. The line was due to re-open yesterday. Apparently all is good now :D
