Mosquito protection

Recommended Posts

I take Jungle protection roll on and spray from Boots but rarely use it as not necessary near the coast unless there has been rain and there is standing water in puddles Use when inland where there is a lot of vegetation early morning and late afternoon but usually the ship leaves before dark

If you're going to Havana with an overnight stop then no need to worry Cuba is malaria free

I would take bite cream with you cos you can get bitten by sand flies, ants etc and if there are any biting insects I'm a Belisha beacon but over the last 10 years have never been bitten by mosquitoes in the Caribbean - Cyprus and Corfu yes and I react very badly so I always have Fucidin H cream with me whatever holiday I'm on This is antibiotic and cortisone cream but is only available on prescription

Suggestions - Try one or a combination of these.

Take odourless garlic tablets for few days prior and during cruise

Use Avon's Skin So Soft Body lotion (apparently used by troops)

Go Jungle Formula or any anti mosquito product containing DEET

Bon Voyage.!

Generally speaking mosquitos aren’t a problem in the summer months but the bigger problem are Sand Flies/Flees especially early morning and evening and following frequent rain showers.

Insect repellents with minimum of 20% Deet is essential and don’t towel down directly on the sand, always hire a sunbed.
