OZ Shareholder Benefit OBC request can no longer be emailed as of Jan 18

Recommended Posts

Maybe that won't work either, but perhaps they will let you use their fax machine to fax it to them??:)

ROTFLMAO! Too funny!

Seriously though, how many people use faxes in Australia these days? Many people no longer have land lines. Even government departments allow documents to be attached to online requests

Apparently this is the correct fax number: 02 8424 9160

Latest update. Apparently this fax number doesn't work either.

Sounds like Princess haven't got a clue what they are doing! They don't seem to know how to deal with faxes, perhaps they should go "back' to more modern technology ie email. :p

Incredible, they really don't want any business do they.

I had the same problem in early December. Got absolutely nowhere trying to deal with Princess Australia. In the end I faxed their USA number 0011 1 6617530180 and the credits were applied within an hour. Same old story Australians don’t rate good service.

My GP was complaining that he had to buy a fax machine last year.

Apparently some medical documents are still faxed. Although most have moved to secure download facilities.

Saw a specialist the other day, the office was getting a fax, I commented, they said they still get a lot of faxes as when one Dr has the hard copy of results it’s easier than scanning and emailing.

That's the one I mentioned above, posts 21 & 28. Apparently it doesn't work.

With all due respects, the fax number provided in posts 21 and 28 ends in a zero (0), the number from the Carnival web site ends in a one (1).

For clarification, the Carnival web site lists the Australian Fax as 61 2 8 424 9161.

I must be going blind! I actually checked that a couple of times and missed the difference in the last digit both times. :o

Since I started this post, I thought I would update everyone on claiming my benefits. Sailing now 1 week from today. Expressed post and registered my docs last Monday and was received by Princess last Wednesday 17th Jan. Still was not applied today :loudcry::loudcry:. So contacted Customer Solutions again and after emailing, yes emailing them :D:D:D, magically they were honoured and applied within 10 mts. I even sent through a request for my baby 5 nighter in March, at the same time as I could not bare having to go through the endless dramas, I have had to endure until Princess sort out the process. Would appreciate if someone who gets through on the fax number lets us know how long before their benefits were applied. Good luck everyone.

Emailed my 29th Jan Cruise, Shareholder benefit request on 2nd and 11th Jan. Followed up with phone call to Captains Circle 12th asking if emails had been received. They supposedly sent the Benefits section an email on my behalf, asking what the delay was.

I phoned again this morning to find out what the delay was and was told Princess Australia is no longer accepting requests via email, due to legal reasons. All requests for the benefit must now be faxed or posted in. Checked the number 3 times, tried faxing it numerous times and it would not go through, my local post office tried twice for me and as a last resort sent all details to my Travel Agent who couldn't get through either. Number works fine for the Sydney office staff but does not go through from Melbourne.

A frustrating, time consuming waste of many hours today because Princess has changed the rules and did not have the courtesy to tell me or properly inform all staff of the new rule change that came into effect in Jan 18. Deadline for OBC is 2 weeks prior to sailing, so my Express post will certainly miss that deadline but after speaking to Customer Solutions they have made a note on my booking, as is not my fault and will hopefully be applied later in the week once they get the paper work.

So if you have any cruises coming up, best to post your details through to Princess Cruises, Shareholder Benefits, PO box 1429 Chatswood, 2057 at least a month in advance. The fax number is supposed to be 02 83264550, hope it is fixed soon or it actually works for you.

That's interesting, jinja0707. Good to hear you got your OBC.

A FB poster had a different response from Princess. Here's her story, posted here with her permission:

"You are not going to believe this! We just rang Princess. It is 22 January. We emailed our docs on 3 and 6 Jan. Rang on 10 Jan as we had heard nothing and told to fax or post. We were away. Went to Oz Post. Faxed as requested on 14 Jan (tried 10 times). Number wasn't working. Rang and were given a new number. Faxed to that number. Number wasn't working. (Also tried 10 times) Gave up and sent docs by Oz Post overnight express to Sydney. Doc tracker said docs were delivered to the address given in Sydney on 16 Jan at 7.42am. Nothing happened so 2 days later rang Princess and was told they were busy with the Sun Princess problems. Still nothing on my cruise personaliser today. Rang Princess. They rang back to say 'no one collected the mail at all last week because the girl was sick'. And if the benefit didn't show in my cruise personaliser before I boarded to take my documents to reception and the ship would ring head office and sort it out for us."

"The US office rang the Aus office and had someone ring us. I must admit, I don't know how I am remaining so calm. "

" I should add that we only booked this trip on 3 Jan when a cabin became available so it's not as if we deliberately waited until the end to send it in."

:eek::eek::eek:

From the US a couple of things...

The fax or post direction comes from the Corporate part of Carnival, not Princess.

Several in the US use a free fax service like Faxzero.com to send requests directly from their computer. No fax machine, no scanning involved. No landline involved. Is such a thing available in Oz?

Even with the above, a correct fax number needs to be in place.

Princess US had several problems for awhile. Fax system didn't work, no one was following the requests, etc, etc..seems to be working pretty well now.

My saga for today. Yesterday morning I checked my personalizer and the only OBC showing was the FCD OBC and some promotional OBC. Late afternoon I received another Booking Confirmation email - these often get sent when something changes on your booking. I checked the Personalizer. Now I have something called "Customer Goodwill" showing against my name, and the FCD OBC which was against both names on the booking has disappeared. The promotional OBC is still there. I've just got off the phone to Princess, where I spoke to a lovely lady in Seattle who is part of their Australian support team. The "Customer Goodwill" is the Shareholder OBC that I requested. She was able to see that we had booked with FCDs and has sent a request through to the appropriate department to get that OBC reinstated.

I discussed the problems we have been having here, regarding the Shareholder OBC, with her and hopefully she will pass them through the appropriate channels.

Final update from me! Our OBC problem was solved at 12:40pm today, a lot faster than I expected. We now have our FCD OBC, promotion OBC and Shareholders OBC showing on our booking. Well done and thanks, Princess, especially to Kaye in Seattle who was so helpful and friendly on the phone. :)
