Hello, just noticed that Bermuda day is May 24, 2018...planning a cruise on the Escape and we were looking at May 20th, if we did that sail date it appears we would be in Bermuda from the 23rd to the 25th, which includes the holiday..I have read a few posts that mentions it's not a good idea to be there on that holiday b/c of crowds or some businesses closing for that day :o we could also go the next week, 5/27/18 out of NY on the Escape, would that be the better thing to do? We are doing one pre-night in NYC before the cruise and of course it might be a bit busy that holiday weekend, but just wondering if missing the holiday in Bermuda might be the better choice....

Most shops will be closed. Public transportation will be on a reduced schedule. May 24 most locals will have a holiday from work and there will be no school. Beaches will be more crowded as Bermuda day is the traditional local start of the beach season. If you have a choice the next week would be better.

Hi there, the Grandeur of the Seas is to arrive in Bermuda on Saturday May 26th, is this a good thing for us or not?

thanks Nina from Baltimore

It’s like 4th of July- a lot of businesses will be closed and there will be a lot of celebrating, a parade, a race, and a ton of locals boating and going to the beach. Blessing and a curse for visitors- extremely festive but fewer shopping opportunities and more crowded beaches.
