Early Morning Taxis at Dubai Cruise Terminal?

Are taxis available at the cruise terminal 24 hours a day? Our ship is due to overnight in Dubai Dec. 31-Jan. 1 and we are considering a very early tour that would depart from a nearby hotel at 6 am on Jan. 1. Just wonder if we would be able to find a taxi to get us there that early as you cannot walk out of the port.

I would pre-arrange a pick-up the day before with one of the taxi drivers at the terminal. New Year's Eve is a huge party in Dubai with traffic gridlock. Check the Trip advisor forum. According to our driver in Dubai 2 days ago, in that night, any ride is 1000 dirham independent of destination. I don't know if this extends into the early morning hours.

2 days ago, the taxi ride from the terminal to a downtown hotel was 85 dirham for us.

Dubai is also a great place to use Uber.

Then specify the type of taxi requested:

- Airport Taxi: Serves Dubai International Airport, operating at an opening fare of 25 dirham and an extra fare of AED1.75 per 1 km.

- Special Needs Taxi: Starting fare of this service varies according to the location and & time. When the service is ordered from the Airport, the opening fare is 25 dirham. In other parts of the city, the meter opening fare is 6 dirham in the morning, noon and evening, and 7 dirham after 10.00 pm.

- Ordinary Taxicabs from the Airport: The opening fare of the ordinary taxicab when ordered from the Airport is 20 dirham plus 3 dirham per each km in the morning, noon and evening, and 3.5 dirham per each km after 10.00 pm.

- Hatta Taxi: The fare of Hatta Taxi is set at 25 dirham per person in the 7-seater vehicle.

- Ladies Taxi: The opening fare is 6 dirham in the morning, noon and evening and 7 dirham after 10.00 pm.

I would book one to be on the safe side but I have seen them in the terminal very early on our visits.

From all the notices on the hotel sights and tourist attractions I think that New Year's Eve is the most expensive night of the year and has large surcharges on the better restaurants and clubs. Know before you get there what you plan to do. You will not have that magic congeierce desk to make things happen from the ship. Arabian Adventures is the big tourist mover in the area -- might be able to get a van for several people. Dubai is really great place. Hope no buildings burn like last year's New Years eve.
