Recommendation for Excursion at NZ Bay of Islands???

Heading to NZ on HAL Noordam in March. Have excursions picked out for all stops except Bay of Islands. There's a lot to do there, but nothing jumping out at me. Reluctant to go with full-day on bus or full-day on boat. Anyone got suggestions?

Kawitii (sp?) glow worm caves are about a half hour away. There are also parasailing excursions available. Each of those would only take up a couple of hours. We get seasick on small boats so lengthy sailing excursions don't appeal to us either.

If you are looking for a relaxing day you could take the shuttle ashore. It will land you at Waitangi and from there its just a short walk to the Treaty Grounds where you can take the guided tour. From Waitangi the ships shuttle will take you along the bay to Paihia, ( a pleasant 20 minute walk if you prefer) . Then take the ferry over to historic Russell then back to Paihia .

I agree this is a perfect day in the Bay of Islands. If you want a longer walk, you can continue walking on a beautiful walk past the Treaty Grounds, before you return to Waitangi.
